So late to the party! We just returned from a trip to France (6/19/24) and fell in love with this church. Your video and commentary is great! So many details, things we missed (though we visited twice!), and history! Thank you. Are you still doing guides? If/when we return to Paris we would like to book some time with you.

Beautiful, stunning, spectacular, a feast to the eyes, an explosion of colours and possibly scents (you only could experience). Your camera and your skills have certainly captured the work of master gardeners.

Just now seeing this, tracked some of my ancestors down to the original, church that this church was built over, at the time this was outside one of the walls...to evade the taxes of the 'city' it was when this area was considered rural

I know its been a long time, I'm curious about the area that got flooded, assuming if it did not flood with water, is there any details on what them canals would be for? or how it would have looked after completion?

I have good news for you. I just returned from Paris (May 31, 2024). My family toured Le Marais with Corey. He's still out there touring! He's concentrating on his still-photography and his Paris tours at the moment. I did suggest to him that he should do an "update video" on KZbin from time to time. So, hopefully he checks in. Our tour was even better than I expected. My wife and kids loved it. If you visit Paris, you really should splurge for a tour with Corey.

For unknown reasons KZbin sent me to this video and thought I'd enjoy it, which I did very much. Thanks for braving the rain! Many many years ago I lived in that area and those streets were very much my local neighbourhood, and the boulangerie in the Place de l'estrapade is where we got all our bread (except on Sundays when it was closed, as it still seems to be!). It looks like nobody has commented this after all this time, but a brocheur (45.40) is a bookbinder and indirectly where we get the word brochure in English. (Brocher means to stitch together). Incidentally, if you'd gone on straight in the opposite direction from the square (south-east instead of north-west) down the rue Lhomond for one block, you'd encounter the Irish Cultural Centre in the rue des Irlandais which is a gem and probably worth a video on its own (including two of those old street name inscriptions that you like on the corner of the building), and around the corner , appropriately in the rue Pierre & Marie Curie, the Curie Institute which they built for the money from their Nobel prizes and the grounds of which still has their original lab (off limits to the public because of radiation but there's a great small museum). I'm off to see what you share about other parts of Paris now!

This morning, while having my breakfast, I thought I will quickly have a look and try to see if I can find some documentary about the history of the Paris Match newspaper. I’m going to come back and look for the history of the Paris Match newspaper, but I in the immediate I decided to try and find something on KZbin and I did not, but I found something even more interesting, which is the history of French newspapers of the Belle Epoque which is around the year 1900. Now, last time. I spent a lot of time, and I downloaded and read or listen to audiobooks. I think the New York Times and another newspaper two or three audiobooks. I listen to about historic newspapers and reporting those are very interesting. Still, I am interested in the subject, and there are numerous books on newspapers etc. but I am interested in, the historical aspect and this video that somebody has taken the time in trouble to make and narrate this very nice book really something for somebody who is interested in something so amazing so for those who are interested here is some nice weekend watching and something to learn about and research. Enjoy this.

Some years ago, I lived in this area, on rue de Rochechouart, in an appartements building built for a M. Godillot, an industrialist who furnished shoes to the French army - so that the word "godillot" is a slang word for "chaussures" (shoes, in French). Of course, I lived in a tiny former servant room just undeeneath the roof, just passing in the wonderful stair case the posh dwellings of bourgeois people, with several artists among them...

I ran across you video of the cinquième arrondissement and I was trilled. I grew up 31 Rue Tournefort and my grandfather owned the little hôtel 25 Rue Tournefort. That was in the 30 s , before WW2. If you are looking for for more history about the place: - Where you start ,place Lucien Herr, is the place where I went to school and it was renamed place Kennedy in the sixties. I see they went back to place Lucien Herr ??? -On the wall of 25 Rue Tournefort there is a plaque which says that the house belonged to Prosper Mérimé ,the author of the novel « Carmen » that Bizet used for his opera. - Rue Amyot is where Marie Curie with the help of Pierre processed the pitchblende that led them to the discovery of Polonium and Radium. L’hôpital Curie is just at the end of the street. -Rue des Fossés St.Jacques , you wondered what a « brocheur » was . I believe that it is the guy who was making des livres brochés as opposed to les livres reliés. The former are soft covered books with a square glued edge, the latter are hard covered better hard covered books held together by threads. They use long needles, broches. Also skewers en broche, brochettes de mouton😋.brochure …. - if serrurerie is number one , chirurgie is number two 😂 -
