I like how you did the solo with mostly just single notes allowing you to continue to play the chords in left, but then added a few harmony notes at the right spots. That's very well done! On the intro percussive figure, unfortunately my keyboard doesn't have the sound with the 4th below added in, so I have to play both hands / both notes to get it to sound right.

THANK YOU so much for making this video -- I just got a new keyboard and it is likely I will have to play this one live soon. The prospect is more than a little terrifying. It's one thing to play a piano solo at a recital and a completely different animal to be playing such a major role in a band. Your videos are deeply appreciated -- there are plenty of tutorial videos by people who are fantastic players, but they're not out there as actual keyboardists doing gigs like you are. I don't know if you play Stayin' Alive by the BeeGees, but if you have any advice on how to make the most of the parts of that song on a single keyboard, it would be much appreciated.

Yes I am aware there is a lack of material available for band keyboard players so I'm trying to help with that. But time is limited so I can only do so much at a time. I played Stayin Alive a few years ago so I'll see what I have.

Hmm i think your keyboard have some synthesizer options, i tried to find the 3 sounds, but i coult not find any (standard) instruments with the same sounds on my Yamaha psr 473. What keyboard do you have?

The keyboard in this video is a Roland Fantom G series (7 or 8). Sorry, I can't speak to what sounds are offered on other keyboards. I usually try to find the closest match available and go with that.

Main Chords are all weak - and some are wrong. The double note set up is wrong too, it’s a single sound.

@@mikebardenpiano thx, that’s ok Music for musics sake. Half the fun is replicating the sound 100%… if we can. With an RD700NX (and soon the Nord stage 4) I can 100% match the main synth, (both hands), match the mini riff say, 90%, but with 4 patches at once across 88 keys, I seem to run out of keys an patches for that main solo part. Interesting how you’ve done it though. Real answer is take both keyboards … but too much work! Your interesting compromise solution works in a pub / gig setting, but for a wedding or major stage gig, I fear not. Stay cool. Well done. Life’s short - enjoy it with friends and music ! 👍

Thanks! Someone may need to write me up a ticket at all the main stage festivals we play throughout the year. Lol I knew my solution to the solo line was a compromise, as I made the logistics decision to not use multiple keyboards in my setup. So I won't argue that. If however, I have some chords wrong or played in a wrong voicing, I am definitely open to learning more about those and making adjustments.

@@mikebardenpiano I was wondering why the musical authorities were taking you to court. All those unpaid tickets…! 😉 PS. Having listening to live and studio tracks and downloaded sheet music from various sources, I’m STILL somewhat unsure if the mamba style mini riff is: F#, E, C#, B, C#… or … F#, E, B, C# Are you sure your version is right?

The details are a little buried in the studio mix, so I could see how it could be taken a couple of different ways. But on the whole, I stand by mine because the contour of the line matches what I'm hearing in the recording.
