Thank you Mike for your comment. Yes, the great thing with what we do is time. It really helps figure it out on a trip by trip basis. What works for one doesn’t necessarily work for another. The main point is to get out on the adventure. Start with the basics and figure it out. It’s part of the joy of what we do. Cheers legend

Dear Ryan, My compliments to you. Thank you for all your splendid videos and advice. Very factual and detailed. I have a next gen ranger wildtrak at the moment that I am starting to build up for long range overlanding. A question I have on your rim/tire set up. What is the actual OFFSET on your rig 285/65R18? And for my situation what offset would you recommend using a 265/70R18 tire? Thanks in advance for your advice. Keep up the good work. Love your youtube program 👏 Groeten Willem de Kant Somerset West
@4x4ventures_southafrica
@4x4ventures_southafrica 4 ай бұрын
I would truly advise you to visit your tyre fitment centre of preference and get their advice and professional opinion for wheel rims and the off sets preferred. Remember I was sponsored a set of tyres from CST international, so I was pushed in to the 18 inch wheel rim size. I would personally try and add more rubber between the wheel rim and tar with as close to a neutral offset as possible, and prevention of tyres sitting passed the wheel shrouds of the vehicle. Your offset should be as close to neutral as possible, obviously the wider rims will require an offset to prevent rubbing on wheel arches etc. I don’t use wheel spacers and would highly recommend to not use them if doing 4x4ing or carrying heavier loads over longer distances.

Hi Ryan, great video, especially the nature scene snippets. 😍 Question, how much does your vehicle weigh with all that gear you hauling around? It is scary how quickly all the kilos adds up with the bits and pieces one have in your kit. Do yourself a favor and go and weigh your rig, I'm sure you will be very surprised with the result. Keep well mnr. 😎
@4x4ventures_southafrica
@4x4ventures_southafrica 4 ай бұрын
Thanks. Please go and watch ep1 of the Zambia and Zimbabwe series. I weighed my vehicle there and show everyone the weights. It is no surprise for me, it is however very scary that when doing proper overlanding 20 - 28 daysthe options on a double cab bakkie become limiting. I think this is a great reason to think about a tray and canopy. It affords me the possibility to do this. Oh, and since the new suspension updates I am pleased

Thank you Ryan for the concise and well present video! I have a new double cab Ranger which I'm about to kit out. Hi Hoseman, Unfortunately I have no idea about removing the back seats. I have two little ones, so pick up and drop off have meant for me to keep the seats at the back. In my experience, the 1st 120,000 km with the Ranger is great, but after that, either get rid of it or expect all sorts of problems that will cost you a fortune to keep the vehicle going. For me personally, never Ford again. I don't care if it outperforms the Toyota Hilux. You can keep it. I need a car that will not leave me stuck 900 km from the nearest repair center. I can live with a little less performance, of which my Hilux has ample for my overlanding needs.

I agree as more functions on the dashboard and a faster car makes it a so called better car but in real life creates more problems and sorry to say all cars do have problems but is far less on a toyota and a isuzu
