I can see why so many parents are homeschooling their kids today. A public school education is nothing but a one-size-fits-all education. Public school teachers simply don't have the time to deal with special-needs students; nor even give them the individualized attention that they need. They have to teach what the school districts want them to teach and they have to teach their classes with a short period of time. They are also under a?lot of pressure to perform up to state and federal standards as well. In my opinion, the state and the Federal governments are actually running these public schools. And the kids themselves are under a lot of pressure to keep up with their schoolwork and their grades up as well. And teachers also have to take flack and criticism from the parents as well. I went to public school back.in the 60's. I was there from first to fourth grade. After fourth grade, I went to special education school because I had emotional problems in public school. The classes were big, and the school felt that I needed a much smaller class. And besides, there were no special education programs in the public schools back in the 1960's. I was better off going to special education school anyway.The classes were much smaller than the public schools, and the teachers gave me ndividualized attention. Parents have the right to educate their kids as they see fit. After all, they are their child's first teachers. And what this woman is doing is no exception.

There are many ways to make it affordable and also check with your school district. Many still offer support for children with IEPs. (I was a special education teacher in Chicago and taught in a homeschool co-op last year.) Hope you find support!!

I will always say that Black Children should be taught by black people. My best teachers were Black. They were like second parents to us.

No, it was integration that messed up black people if you look at the history, during the Jim Crow era, black children had the highest test scores when most of the teachers, schools, and faculty were predominantly black.

You can qualify and most universities see homeschooling as a positive in the application as long as you are under the umbrella.

It's not an issue. Homeschoolers have been accepted into every Ivy League school and nearly every school you've heard of. It all depends on the rigor provided by their homeschool.

Sure. Not only enamored with Harvard. I think for most people it's just shorthand for will they be rigorously prepared. The answer to that is, yes, if you want your children to be prepared for ANY opportunity, they can with homeschooling.

I can appreciate the value to some people of home schooling, and with several siblings who are teachers, I share the value of teaching, and the necessity for lifting Every child, regardless of any other factor. But... I’d suspect that those children are probably at any even greater disadvantage than they may already be, if they want any mid-tier job. Most companies will just automatically bin or delete job applications from young people with ‘home schooled’ on it - the college grades won’t matter to most, but ‘home schooled’ has largely negative connotations, frankly, in most countries and cultures. Good luck to the home schooled kids though...

What kind of "mid-tier" job are you referring to? I have not put my high school credentials on my resume a year past high school. My employers have absolutely no idea where I went to high school. They do know where I went to college. They could care less about high school. Honestly, outside of the very top tier colleges, they could care less about which school (unless they are an alum and want to hire a fellow alum) as long as you can prove you earned the degree. And at this point in my career, they don't even care about college that much because my work experience speaks for itself. Seriously, in the 30 years since high school, I have not ever discussed or put my high school on an application, and most definitely not for a "mid-tier" job.

As along as you have a college degree that does not matter and most black homeschooler get college degrees. If no college is there then they fall into the GED system and that is fine also. It will not say HOME SCHOOLED on your application.
