This dance is called the Lindy Hop. It started in the African-American communities in Harlem in the late 1920's. It was very popular during the swing era of the late 30's & early 40's. Lindy is a fusion of many dances but is mainly based on jazz, tap, breakaway & Charleston.

@@africareact If I’m not mistaken, the dance became popular just after Charles Lindbergh completed the first non-stop transatlantic flight in 1927, and it was named the Lindy Hop after him.

The story is that the name was inspired after the first transatlantic flight by aviator Charles Lindburgh who 'hopped' the Atlantic ocean in 1927, but I can't say for certain if this is correct.
