"That Nigeria made a deliberate effort to use music, movies and art to wipe off the image of 419..." Now that is a LIE from the pit of hell. Nigeria's music, movies and art grew and developed in leaps and bounds over the years even before independence. Because most of our first generation artistes in film, music, comedy and art perfected their craft on public TVs and Radio before they broke out into commercial art business. This started from the old WNTV/WNBS (1st TV station in Africa) in the 50s to the national TV & radio network of NTA & FRCN. There was no 419 then. The development to where we are now was organic and natural not a deliberate image campaign, absolute BS.

@teejayfilms2984 Yes, liberia and Sierra Leon; the kru people who worked with the Portuguese during the transatlantic slave trade and also the returnees of the slaves from the Caribbeans formed the palmwine music( which contains soco, calypso, native carribian music, africa dinctive sounds) The highlife- palmwine music is played amongst the west African coaster areas with distinctive cultural sounds of highlife. Liberia, Gambia, ivory coast, nigeria, ghana etc. Highlife is not a Ghanaian invention but Ghanaian popularized it during 1900s.

Nigerians don't actually care. 1. How many podcasts have you seen by Nigerians talking about Ghana 2. How many television programs have you seen in Nigeria talking about Ghana 3. How many television stations have you seen where the presenters talk about Ghana the way Ghanaians talk about Nigeria. The only reason why we comment is because you talk about us and sometimes in a way that is kind of disrespectful.

There were music artists before Fela, and he did not start high life in Nigeria point of correction. We always pick and share ideas, that is what Fela did and this had influenced his music. From music school in London, US ,Ghana and Nigeria. His Ghanaian friend Ebo Taylor testify to how fela create Afro beat I'm Nigeria. We Nigerians have our indigenous music just like any African and some music have some beats in common . I can mention many akan, Ga and ewe words very close and of the same meaning to that of nigerians. You can make your findings.

Ghana say the Nigerians came to learn. Cameroon say the Nigerians came to learn Congo say the Nigerians came to learn Every Ghanaian KZbinr that wants Nigerian viewership has to bite this topic, then you will hear "They will come for us".......are you guys not tired? NY is a learned and well researched guy, you side stepped some of your earlier positions. I will agree with you on the Highlife take, musical historians attest to the facts that highlife is a West African sounds which is diversed based on country. Fela is a musical genius, he studied music in UK and was roommate with Ebo Taylor. There was no social media in his time but he was aware of sounds coming from all of Africa, Europe and America, and he was well travelled. This was why he created Afrobeat - which has components from Jazz, Funk, Soul, Juju, highlife and Fuji. Search for any of his concert, you will find all the instruments that makes all these genres. The idea that Fela went to Ghana to learn was highly misconstrue, he went on political asylum because of his music and constant criticism of government, his mother was thrown from a balcony to death by the then military government. His great grandfather built the first musical studio in Africa

Ghanians please let me ask you people, why is it that every podcast or KZbinrs in Ghana, all their discussion is Nigeria this, Nigeria that, don't you Ghanians has any other things to discuss? Nigeria don't have time talking about Ghanians, Nigeria podcast and KZbinrs talk about other things and us, you hardly sees Nigerian podcast brings out their time always talking about Ghana, Ghanians problem is Nigeria that is why we are always ahead of you people, other Africans focus on theirs, enter south Africa podcast now, you will not see them wasting their time talking about one particular people or country cause they have so many things to talk about, and because of this Ghanians will always be under Nigeria shadows, you people should try and win some other small countries first, look at Togo close to Ghana but Ghana music can not dominate just Togo and this is what Ghanians should be thinking of not Nigeria, to the worst thing that can happen to someone is when you don't know who is bigger than you, Nigeria don't have time for Ghana, if Nigeria wants to talk about something we talked about what will make us stronger and bigger, Ghanians has opportunity of something now but they don't care about that, highlife is there now no one has already showcase it to the world and this is the opportunity for Ghanians, when Nigeria will jump into it now you people will start crying to the world cause that what Ghanians are good at, the opportunity is there for you people to showcase it to the world now....
