If I could afford it, honestly I would buy both. Each of them literally tells you what it's made for just by the looks, the razorback wants you to go out and chop some wood or build a shed and the ranger just wants to be taken on a hike or camping trip. Such awesome and functional designs!

I work, trek, and go to town in only one pair of boots, my Razorback by Jim Green. Living in the cooler high Drakensberg, whilst managing a farm, my feet experience every conceivable range of conditions you can think of. Spring with new veld grass wet with recent rain, rushing streams, stables, towing stuck cars from the deep mud on the un-serviced district road, ( When will this service ever happen?), and workshop with oil and grease. High summer, maintaining roads and hiking trails, mowing, gardening, general concrete construction, forestry, and fencing, you name it, it is probably on my list of tasks. Autumn, burning firebreaks and preparing the property for winter, with its cold frost and occasional snow, dry veld fighting runaway fires. then in the same boots after a lick and polish, I go to town once in a while, (one has to, unfortunately) I am happy to walk around, proud to be a countryman in my Razorbacks. The only times I don't wear my Razorbacks are when I shower, and in bed, for obvious reasons, I think. All in all, I wear them because I don't have to think about them. They just become a natural part of me and who I am. Now here is the thing. Right from the go, I will in the future replace the inner sole with a custom sole. My feet and rough lifestyle wear out the factory-fitted fiber sole very quickly. and secondly, I will wear gumboots on the district road in the future. Give these Razorbacks by Jim Green of South Africa a go. I have never been disappointed with them. And another thing, perhaps I will buy two pairs next time round, one for all the hard work, and the other as my "going out" pair, but I will wear my work pair when I have to meet my bank manager. It will show him I'm still strong and hard-working.

I have a pair of Razorbacks that are just broke in and honestly, they are super hard soled. I work construction and they aren't the most comfortable boot on concrete all day. They really do seem bulletproof but I think I would like them better for working outside off concrete. I feel like the African Rangers would suit me better with that different sole material. Just my personal take on these boots.

Just found your product from the Rose Anvil, I been using Red Wing boots for the past 17 years, they don't make the boot I used anymore and quality has dropped. I have a lawn care business in Louisiana, needless to say it wet all the time. Few questions, I like a lower boots 3 3/4 to 4". Would the African Ranger work well for me? Are they waterproof or resistance? Do you have any EH rated boots? Also I'm used mink oil on my Red Wings, would that also be a option for maintenance on the Ranger? Thanks
@JimGreenFootwearOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Good day and thank you for your interest in Jim Green Footwear. Our boots are not waterproof besides for our Monster Range, the rest are water resistant. These water resistant properties can be improved by the care and conditioning method used on the boots. We do not have any EH rated boots in our range and finally, we do have a care guide on our channel for our Crazy Horse Leather option, we recommend any natural product for the care and to test the product on a small area of boot before full application to get an idea of the results.

I have 2 Jim green boots one is the Razor back and the other is a vellie boot. Both seem to have the same issue although more so on the razor back then the vellie. The issue is that the sole is convex and not flat. I mean convex going left to right, a convex font to back would not be an issue. Anyway this convex nature of the sole mean that the big toe and the pinky toe never actually touch the ground while the middle of the foot does. I am unsure if the ranger has this issue or not and I am not even sure what causes it. So if I do not include that issue the boot are perfect the width is perfect. I mean perfect as it fits my foot exactly where my feet are touching the sides with no issues so not too wide and not too narrow, it is perfect.
