wow dude, i'm a south African and i constantly have to deal with racist white people who try to call all African people stupid by saying we were as illiterate as animals, and that when colonizers invaded and killed us it was merely an act of culling the animal population, which is why they don't feel any remorse at their history of colonization and racism, they feel completely justified in the actions of their ancestors all because they believe the native people had the minds of animals, such videos are important because they are good learning centers for racist white people who cling to that colonial mindset...you have one new subscriber

The Akan symbols are not exclusively Akan. Some have been found in Kushitic tombs. See Tony Browder's work in conjunction with the University of Ghana. They also don't represent a script. They are very loaded, very abstract ideograms.

Archeologist that the Wolof in Senegal and other people groups of the Mali Empire ( such as Mande, Bambara, Fulanj, Mandinka etc) in Senegal have the closest language , culture and linen making style to Ancient Egyptian than other people group meaning that they migrated over the Sahara over 1000s of years..So the Bambara being if those groups in Mali are also are amongst those people groups..

To be clear, the first 3 writing systems mentioned are derived from the same groups of people formally known as the Nilotes (people-of-the-Nile / Nile Valley) who were the first to inhabit the Nile Valley. Nubians, Kushites, Kemetians, and other are not necessarily different in terms of ethnicity. This group of Africans travelled down the Nile River from East Africa to the Nile Valley. Thanks for sharing and including my people on the list!

Greeting HomeTeam History. I am curious on your view of the spread of the Latin alphabet within Africa, coupled with the displacement of many Sub-Saharan scripts. To my knowledge the only major Sub-Saharan script that remains is used is the Horn of Africa region, particularly Ethiopia with the Ge'ez script. I personally see a parallel between this phenomenon in Africa and the displacement of Northern European scripts by the Latin alphabet starting in the 11th to 12th centuries.

I can say where I go to church we still use the geez language. I was also told it was an afro Semitic language similar to Aramaic also Aramaic is also thought of as an afro Semitic language so I guess the best way to say it's a kushitic language versus Northern I guess African language I don't know. But we still pray it also Coptic it's probably the only form of way to translate the hieroglyphs from what it's being said and that's actually prayed in the Coptic churches it's funny a lot of these Orthodox especially the African have held onto the original languages and I think personally like if there was any interpretation of the Bible those languages in those cultures in Africa and part of West Asia should definitely be looked at it's the only way in my opinion to get an accurate view of Christianity even in its original context but yeah man great Channel I did all the content on here and keep up the great work man I just saw the video that you're not going to be posted on KZbin anymore at least hit up black Junction I have to go over to patreon and see what I could do but for now I can't really afford it but thank you man I like your stuff

Nsibidi ( or what ever it's called) has gotta be the most interesting one out of all of them. That is one really cool way of writing, and very unconventional way of writing.Also glad you showed the berbers for their true color, as some Afrocentrist will try to depict them REALLY dark, or not tan at all. Berbers could be confused for Arabs, but they aren't. The only dark berbers that existed were the Moors.Anyway, would you do an episode that has relevancy to the Turks (my people) with the people of Burnu? That would be interesting as the Ottoman Empire is our proud and joy.
@mikeaskme3530

Oh and before I forget the Ottoman empire along with the Romans, Persians,greeks , Visigoths,and Huns also the English and few sell out black Africans is why Africa and the African people in the Diaspora is so screwed up today. If they would have just cut you northern invaders throats we all would be in a much better way. PS this is about Africa not the Ottoman invaders, and the original people of Africa was black not the imposters of north Africa and not the invaders who call themselves the original Berbers.

Berbers were Blacks according to Romans who generally called them Muur/Moro, which only meant Black the way Ethiops only meant Black under Hellenistic Greeks. Berbers were often confused with Arabs because Arabs were Blacks under the Umayyad caliphate. The Turks ended the Abbasid caliphate with a series of high profile assassinations that brought the full weight of Aryanization, violent fanaticism to Islam and the installation of Hashemite White rule. This history, including the timeline of the whitening of Arabs, is contained in an important book called "Kitāb al-Nizāʿ wa ’l-takhāṣum fīmā bayn Banī Umayya wa-Banī Hāshim", “The Book of Contention and Strife between the Banū Umayya and the Banū Hāshim. Yours is a legacy of unspeakable violence.

Lots of good stuff here and in your other videos too. Some gaps though. Maybe I can help out on pronouncing African names: Piye is pronounced Pi-Ye not Pie. Nsibidi is ancient and pronounced insibidi. Nubia (Ta-Seti) while an early state, was not the first. It was preceded by Yam and Bompata, which were already in decline during the rise of Nubia. If you know tha names of African scholars working on revealing African scripts who we can follow, please pass their names along. Peace be upon you.

Thanks for the video. Your fighting the stereotypes. Even though I don't care if others think we're savages as long as our own kind don't think so.

Informative video. I knew about amharic and Egyptian hieroglyphic. But there's also coptic writing from the Egyptian Christian priesthood and sudanese arabic writing from mali. I'm sure there's tons more not in this video.

love your video as always bring, however for once I have to disagree slightly, while their early writing system is incredibly important I would say that early sanskrit and indus Valley writing and language and even maths are by and large the most important and influential in human history as it originated Indo Aryan language and writing even modern English numbers are sanskrit not Arabic as is commonly misunderstood, that early communication birthed languages from Greek and Latin to Persian and farsi as well as German and everything in between, your videos are always scholarly and we'll researched academic sources just wanted to share some of my perspective
