Edible nuts, cosmetic oils, tasty fruits and a low-sucrose syrup are just a few of the products gifted to humans by this magnificent tree. No wonder the mobola plum (Parinari curatellifolia) is one of most sought-after trees in the Miombo woodlands. For a review of some the long term economic opportunities for smallholders in Africa from this tree, join Gus (the African Plant Hunter) as he ventures into the woodlands of the Zambezi escarpment to get a closer look.

Thanks for this video. I spend several hours trying to remember the Karanga name (chakata), I was seeing the tree on my mind next to our homestead and the name could not come back. I now live abroad and it’s always exciting seeing someone put a video that relates to my home country.

Love the series! It’s soo exciting to see how many wonderful plants exist in nature, even though we have historically restricted ourselves to using just a handful of species in modern society!
