Parts of the southern city in China have become a melting pot of Chinese and African culture. Nowhere is this more visible than in the growing number of marriages between locals and Africans. However, for the Africans, fitting in and making a life in a foreign country isn't easy. Our reporter Wu Lei talks to some of them about daily challenges in a new country.

I feel sad for these children. Most mixed raced children from watching videos and speaking have a hard time being accepted by the majority in society. Most have to choose one race over the other in public settings. Maybe things will change but in a homogeneous society it likely will not for a long period of time. However, staying were there is family that is supportive and loving is best for the children to adapt. The children need a place they feel unconditional love and acceptance to grow a healthy self esteem.
