The orb things that drop come in 3 flavors. Yellow is currency, blue is health, red is nimpo. You can absorb them by holding heavy attack for special attacks. You can hold heavy to charge it eventually but you can see there isn’t time. So jump and as you land hold heavy down and you will instantly absorb and you can use it in an attack. Anything you kill with this kind of attack drops a Bigger orb worth more. The best to use is a red if you are full, a small yellow is stage 1, 2 yellows is full, same as a red or blue (purple). Chain these from 1 kill into the next over and over. Like the tentacle boss you cut off the second arm and use that drop to charge up a super and hit the boss with the powered up attack. Also you are invulnerable during these attacks.

To answer your question about the xbox/ps3 differences Ninja Gaiden Black and Sigma are basically the same, Sigma just adds some weapons and Rachel missions which are short and sweet. It’s Ninja Gaiden 2 where the differences between versions is much more severe, with everyone agreeing the xbox version is much better.

Glad to see the series back! Quick tip from someone who got his ass kicked by this game as a kid, but maxed it out a few years ago as an adult: Hold triangle when those orbs appear (yellow - money, blue - health, red - magic charge) This will consume the orb, but supercharge your heavy and when you kill enemies with it they drop larger orbs as a result. Good way to farm money, takedown high health enemies quickly, or even cut through a group, as you pretty much can't be hit once you fire it off (Can still take damage when charging though)

Some tips. Learn shuriken cancels. Light attack + jump is a faster jump and automatically jumps to the nearest enemy. The essences are for health, currency, and ninpo (that fire orbs attack) and can be used to instantly charge your strong charge attack (hold triangle button). Jumping vertically off the wall and slashing has an I-frame attack that's great in a pinch. Also be sure to dodge and then jump for more distance and you can keep doing it that way.

There is a risk reward system with the orbs. Charging your strong attack will absorb all orbs around you for a huge attack that leave you temporarily invulnerable while using it. If it kills, the enemy will drop a bigger orbs for you to cash out(health orbs heal for more and yellow orbs are a plenty). Knowing when to use these will save your life.

Hey Afro, I don't know if you have already learned this previously. But ideally you want to be holding down triangle to absorb essence and do a ET or UT which are much more powerful moves and reward you with bigger essence, which means more money for you to spend on health in the shop, and upgrade. You basically want to set up so you can do them safely and when you do those moves you have i frames. Also you can basically block all of the spider ninjas moves but the grab and they may occasionally guard break, just flip out and look for strings you can punish. Hope this helps!
