I am so happy you get to stay home and raise your baby. There is NOTHING like raising your own child!! If I could have done it, I absolutely would. Thank you for your years of teaching. I pray and hope that the climate of teaching gets better. I volunteered every year my son was in elementary and I would NEVER want to be a teacher. Witnessing how they were treated by students and parents blew my mind!!! Add the crisis of American shootings and I can only imagine the fear. Enjoy your time home!!!! So proud of you!

My husband traveled a lot for work. I made the same decision to stay home . The cost of daycare and what would have been left over helped us make the same decision. That was 30 years ago and I never regretted it. We had no family close by but had great friends who helped .you will not regret this. The sacrifices will be so worth it

CONGRATULATIONS! The states needs to have better maternity leave! I'm in Canada and I had 18 months off, paid and every right to my job back afterwards. Ultimately I did choose to stay home with my toddler until she starts school and quit my job after the 18 months was over. I think it's great to stay home with your baby! you'll teach her SO much too.

Yes, thankfully it’s law in Canada that you have to have a job to return to when your maternity leave is over. Less stress on Mama if she decides to return. ❤

Just throwing this out there for those who are anti-daycare or working outside the house moms: The choice that works best for you and your family is the best choice! I’m a teacher too and love it and need to work outside the house to be a better mom. My 2 kids have been in daycare since 3 months old and they are happy and smart and we have a great bond. Yes it sucks how expensive it is (such is the US) and the sicknesses are inevitable, but they get socialization time and learning and I get to continue to do the career that I love.
@miward05287 ай бұрын
I am so happy for your family for doing what is best for you all. Daycare is something that our family utilizes and I think it is important to understand that just because we and others have to utilize it (due to the nature of ours jobs or circumstance) that we do raise our child. Daycare is simply the only village we have to fall back on.
7 ай бұрын
Completely understand the decision, daycare is so expensive. It still makes me sad tat it's almost always the mother sacrificing her career for the family. I'm glad you are doing what is best for you.

I love this for you! I did exactly the same thing after five years of teaching. After my third child started kindergarten I started to substitute at the elementary school that all three of my kids attended. I got to see my kids during the school days, got paid a small amount, and scratched my teaching itch! It’s been the perfect fit for me and my family. Good luck to you and enjoy the time you get to spend with your sweet baby!

I stay home with our 9.5 month old and I wouldn’t change it for the world! You don’t need to feel the need to justify staying home if that’s what works for you. I have nothing against daycare and I used to nanny, but it’s not the right choice for us.
