@user-sf1nq9uj7p
@user-sf1nq9uj7p 25 күн бұрын
The Old Silk Road used to connect the East to the West and brought many places in between to existence as towns and cities sprang up into prosperity - before the wars came and halted it (the Ottoman Empire boycotted trade with China and closed the road .... sounds sort of familiar with another modern day empire of sorts that has gone around being the world trade wrecker with their constant sanctioning and trade embargoes, doesn't it?). All kudos to China for restarting it in the BRI project but in a much larger way and on an INTERNATIONAL scale that brings more and more people around the world in touch with one another so that a common prosperity and mutual respect and understanding between peoples in far-flung lands may be achieved. When the BRI is finally accomplished, future societies will look upon this as another "Wonder of the World" that is larger than the 13,171 mile (21,196 kilometer) Great Wall of China.

The Americans believe that THEY and only THEY (Americans) have a right to a better and happier life (Obama said that if the Chinese has the same level of living that Americans have, the world cannot sustain it and therefore, by inference, the Chinese should not be allowed to have the same living standards as the U.S.). As a result, even Biden has said a similar thing - that he will not allow the Chinese to rise up - "not on his watch". Such selfishness and greed seems to be the key signature of American leaders which is why they are constantly making wars upon Third World countries - to keep them down there. If there is any country that has to be stopped from damaging the Earth further and killing and killing more and more people, it is the U.S.A. which does not deserve its status on this planet.

It will depend on how good their government is and will continue to be. If they use the money they receive from the hard work of their people wisely and invest it in future projects to improve the lives of their people (and not like some Uncle Sam who wastes their huge wealth in wars, benefitting only the 1% of the rich, dividing their own people and supporting corrupt foreign governments), the country will become a nation that will blossom and grow.

First, good, safe roads that will allow for all-year road transportation of goods and services and then, a railway system to increase the traffic of those goods as they increase in demand. Afghanistan is not just some dry, waterless, mountainous semi-desert land. It has over 1,400 mineral fields, containing barite, chromite, coal, copper, gold, iron ore, lead, natural gas, petroleum, precious and semi-precious stones, salt, sulfur, lithium, talc, and zinc, among many other minerals. Gemstones include high-quality emeralds, lapis lazuli, red garnet and ruby. According to a U.S. geological study, Afghanistan has over USD$1 trillion of untapped mineral resources, including oil reserves underground. The country itself is near self-sufficiency in grain (wheat and cereals like barley and oats) production. Overall, it is not as poor as outsiders think. However, under development due to it being a landlocked country and difficulty in exporting its goods plus the years of conflict by big power interference has prevented those resources from being mined and farmed. The road link to China allows for one pathway out as well as for manufactured goods to come in to increase the standard of living of its peoples. Hopefully, this will lead to further developments and a railway system would be the next step forward along with the electrification of the country without having to depend currently on importing its power from Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Iran. Perhaps wind and solar energy may be possible solutions for Afghanistan in the future (although their 120 windy days tends to bring in abrasive sand which may not be so good for wind turbines while solar panels will have to be kept clean all the time). On the other hand, perhaps thorium salt reactors that doesn't need water for cooling could be a future solution but that's a long way away - or, if China finds a solution to fusion reaction, all other methods of electricity generation becomes virtually passe'.

@user-sf1nq9uj7p
@user-sf1nq9uj7p 24 күн бұрын
@@goshkalan2279 And pray tell, what exactly are "standard" roads? Roads can be any track laid down by whatever means necessary to suit the elements. The surfacing can be tar, bitumen. concrete or even just pounded rocks - as long as the pathway can be made more suitable for traveling. Consider the following - In certain mountainous regions, roads that wind through the slopes are not tar but just concrete as it is a more suitable material and in very hot regions, tar is also not suitable as it has a melting point of only between 42°C - 46°C while bitumen has a higher melting point of 120°C - 150°C and asphalt has a melting point of 135°C - 165°C. Given that Afghanistan has an average summer temperature of 50°C, a tarred road surface will quickly deteriorate and make the roads very sticky to travel on. As such, bitumen, which is a mixture of crushed stones, gravel, sand and a sticky, water-resistant petroleum by-product used as a very strong binding agent called, "bitumen", may be more suitable than tar. Just remember too, that there are many areas in Afghanistan that are subject to earthquakes (average of 276 earthquakes in 2023 alone, particularly in the Hindu Kush range) and the roads built must be resilient to earth movements - which Chinese road engineers have a lot of experience with back in China. Looking at the terrain of Afghanistan, one realizes that it is a very mountainous region - which is one of the reasons why it has been such a difficult place for anyone to conquer it. Roads built are not your "normal" run-of-the-mill flat terrain roads but have to run through snaking gradients up and down, around and about twists and turns through hills and mountain ranges (remember the Hindu Kush?). If roads are easy to be built, the Ancient Romans (who are known as expert road builders) would have done so in order to move their legions through the area, the British would have done so to move their troops when they came looki ng to colonize the region and so would the Russians who came and the private U.S. contractors who came with the U.S. military in 2001 to try to build roads to move their armoured vehicles deeper into Taliban controlled sectors. None of them were able to do it because it isn't that easy - wars and conflicts notwithstanding. However, given all of that, in the final analysis, for Afghanistan to progress and prosper, it will need good roads for the easy transportation of its produce to trade and sell to the wider world outside. I have covered earlier, the untapped resources that Afghanistan has which can only be made use of if they have a good network of roads - and progressing from that, a railway system and further from that, the electrification of the entire country. A network of good roads will also allow peace to come to this war-wracked land that has seen so many outsiders come and attempt to conquer it but given its people no rest. It is high time that is all ended. The Afghans, like any other people around the world, deserve to have peace, serenity, a right to improve their standard of living and the pursuit of happiness to do what they want and how they want with no interference from anyone else.
