Terrific video for a terrific band. I used to dance to The Cure songs as a young teenager in the 80’s. And have loved them ever since. Respect for your decision to experience music like we did back in those days. You took a risk on an album and went on an audible adventure. Of course with The Cure I doubt too much risk is involved as they are an amazing band. I was too tempted to hear the song Alone when it was first offered up and I have to say I was blown away by it. I too have ordered the album and have avoided listening to any more of their songs on it until it arrives. Have an awesome time spinning that album and have a great day.
@retromusingsАй бұрын

Congratulations for scoring this LP. You're a big fan of The Cure, obviously, and the excitement level is high. Here's hoping you'll enjoy it as much or more than receiving it. That would really be fantastic. If more artists could do acoustic versions of their hits, would be really awesome. Paul Weller has done quite a few and other 80s bands have done them too like Psychadelic Furs Richard Butler and his Ghost in You song.

I have been debating on this album, sometimes bands lose their edge after 3 or 4 decades. I will need to stream this. I’m glad you got this, love your excitement
@retromusingsАй бұрын
Hi Interestingly enough, Rick Beato did a video about how bands are at their prime/peak in the early stages of their music from 20s to 30 years of age and after that, the dynamic of the music they are producing changes as they get older and usually the output is never better than when they were successful in their early years. I love The Cure's music in the 1980s. Looking forward to listening to it once no one is home to distract me! hopefully it will be this weekend. Thanks for watching.
@johnbellamy3406Ай бұрын
I hope you enjoy the new Cure album. I've never been a huge fan myself. They were very popular when I went to college in the late 1980s. Most of my friends were big fans. I think Robert Smith takes very seriously the huge appreciation of his work form all the fans around the world.

So happy for you you got your versions on release day! Alas here in the UK my three (white vinyl, triple CD and double cassette) haven't arrived yet, which was upsetting as I also missed the tickets for the amazing Troxy show, so didn't watch the opening full album performance (like you I want to hear the full album first), but the rest was fantastic!
@retromusingsАй бұрын
That's very odd. I'm in the UK too and Royal Mail delivered it at 8am Friday on the day of its release. I did order it directly from The Cure's website. Hope your order arrives sooner rather than later. Will watch the concert once I have listened to the full album properly. Thanks for stopping by and watching.
@kimchi_bАй бұрын
@@retromusings Thank you! Yes I ordered from there too, but quite late, and there have been quite a few reports of stock issues so I guess it was more popular than they expected! I look forward very much to it all arriving, and very glad I got the triple CD/BD in particular as the Atmos mix is meant to be by far the best :)

@@retromusings I got a dispatched email today about the triple CD and double cassette so should be here tomorrow hopefully! It seems like my white vinyl isn't included, I hope they can get more, but just glad to get the triple CD as the BD mixes are meant to be the best! For anyone who has the black vinyl I'd suggest playing it as some batches have been pressed off-centre and are defective, and I'll certainly be checking my white vinyl too (if I ever get it) cheers!

Hi RM, at least you have been sensible and only bought the one vinyl I have somehow ended up with 4, versions. The white band store only one you have, the grey marbled indie stores one, the Spotify fans picture disc and the Blood Records glow in the dark picture disc with heat sensitive cover 😱 The dolby atmos mix on the bluray sounds amazing if you have the setup for it, yes I bought the deluxe cd aswell, I may have a problem 🤪 I justify it to myself by saying its the first new album in 16 years so using man maths that's one album every 4 years just all bought at once 😂

We only live once so enjoy all those copies. Looking forward to listening to the album this weekend. Thanks for watching.
@SteviesVinylCupboardАй бұрын
RM I only had one 12" by the Cure and a couple of singles so I started trying to fill out the Cure when I got back into vinyl. saw then on the Head Tour back in 85 and they were great. I remember Roberts massive hair coming down some steps to the stage. Recently got Standing on the Beach but I think I'll wait till I've got the earlier albums before getting anything recent. Btw, are you collecting ladybird books? I have 4 or 5 on the shelf.
@retromusingsАй бұрын
Never too late to pick up Cure albums. I love the Ladybird books. Discovered them after stumbling across a huge Ladybird Exhibition on its history and all their illustrators/artists in Bath early this year. We never had anything close to the Ladybird books when I was growing up in the US. I am so impressed with illustrations and the amount of information those books have for very young readers. I think the British schoolchildren were much more ahead then their counterparts in America. Thanks for stopping by.

Good call on taking in the whole album 👏 I don’t know if you have heard these artists or not but I thought I would share them in case you haven’t. Galaxie 500 - “Today” or “On fire” Sparklehorse - “Good Morning Spider” and “It’s A Wonderful Life” ( Mark Linkous so underrated and lost too soon) Hailey Heynderickx - “I Need To Start A Garden” (thoughtful soulful lyrics with an alt folk vibe) Caoilfhionn Rose - “Constellation” (The album is like a dreamy lullaby) Luluc - “Sculptor” Damien Jurado - “ Brothers and Sisters of the Eternal Son

@kimchi_bАй бұрын
It's strange and a bit ridiculous they have different mixes. The expert opinion seems to be that they are all too muddled and brickwalled, and the best version is the Atmos mix from the limited CD, which should be the best stereo version when converted.

''wish''...''bloodflowers''...also ''faith'' to complete the ''cold trilogy''...and ''boys don't cry''...this is not a compilation but the U.S version of the first album ''three imaginary boys''...a far better one with a stronger set list....last ....''join the dots'' a four cds set of b-sides and rarities/I buy the new one today...check out yesterday 3h show on youtube if you havent seen it ...they've played the new one top to bottom...I havent heard the masterpiece everyone's taking about...though I gotta hear the studio version a few times to have a definitive appeciation
