Just wanted to post Some Updates They have released: The start and Select buttons can be moved to the top left and top right buttons and moves the legion space buttons to the bottom left. (This setting is in the legion space settings) They also added an update that disables in game controls when you open legion space control panel to prevent you from hitting buttons in game while making your adjustments or changes in the legion go quick settings menu. The speakers are still horrible lmao. That being hardware that prolly wont change. But the menus and software stuff has been getting some updates over time. :) FSR and RSR saves the day for a lot of the more GPU heavy games. I enjoy mine but everyone has their own personal preferences too. But i'm right there with you on the Speakers and RAM..... my only two issues with it as those are hardware and cant be fixed with an update. But its done everything Ive needed it to do so far.

For me, Windows is the worst part of the device. Love the screen and the performance but Legion Space sucks and isn't good enough to make up for Windows being a terrible handheld OS. The saving grace for the Legion is that the screen is so large that using the touch screen isn't completely terrible. I can't wait for the update that lets us use the triggers as mouse clicks though because I hate touch screens and the fingerprints that go along with them. I really dislike the touch keyboard too. I'll keep my Steam Deck OLED for travel as it's way better on battery life, especially for indies and older AAA games. SteamOS is nicer to use too.

The only game I have had issues running is/was Remnant 2 which just runs like shit anyway, but I've got that game working fine now. They still need more updates because low watts mode can be an issue, but im happy with how what they've done so far. To each their own...right.

Just got the 512GB for 600usd yesterday and is my 1st handheld, been gaming since the Intellivision days. Went for this for Windows and the removable joycons. I have yet to set it up tho, trying to find my Windows account profile to activate. This is nice for people also wanting a small Win-tablet without having the controllers in the way. The stand great because you can stand the Go on it's sides. The joycon mounts look weak compared to others that are twice the size and I'm worried they might break one day. Dpad is meh and hopefully someone will release better ones. The nvme is a weird size being 22x42 but I have a 2280 adapter shipping in. I agree with it needing 32GB, people already modded it with it, and the performance jumped a lot. I'm planning on doing the mod, but want to practice some BGA work 1st. Would've liked to see a USB A on top instead of that USB C on the bottom since it's useless while the tablet's sitting, maybe someone can make a hub that runs along the bottom and maybe clips in so the port can be more useful. The carrying case has too much wasted space IMO, I might have a new version because instead of the depressions for the sticks, it's just a huge rectangle on both sides. They could've moved the mouse puck over and fit the a folding prong charger also and maybe still have room for other things like more SD cards or an extra cable. All in all I'm fairly happy for the price I paid and knew what I was ordering. The software can be worked on just like the other handhelds had, and the hardware can somewhat be modded for those with the skills.

There are two valid schools of thought on the RAM/VRAM situation, and in regards to the Legion Go I agree with you. Some people say that since it’s a handheld that 16 GBs is enough, but I believe that since the Go has 2560x1600 screen it should have more VRAM. But that is just my thoughts. I have an Ally and although its great, I primarily use it for emulation. When I want to dock the Ally and use it for emulation I have to use another controller which makes emulator configurations more complicated because I have to remap the buttons to the controller. I don't have a Legion Go but I would imagine since it has the controllers that disconnect that wouldn't be an issue. This is a big factor for me. At the moment I have some weird workarounds for the Ally that seem stable right now, but in retrospect I should've gotten the Legion Go for a more Nintendo Switch experience that I can dock/undock without any complications. I think this should be considered for anyone who wants to go from a dock/undock situation with lots of different software configurations for different games.

I am researching both this one and the ROG, they are both expensive and it is hard because one video praises each while another video talks crap on it. I just watched a video that thinks this Legion is amazing and fast. But unless you do real time testing and game play fps, it's all opinion. I will say that going from a 55" 1080p to a 65" OLED was night and day, I am planning on hooking this up to it when I am home. My old Steam Deck played fine on the 55".

I have the Big Three (Steam Deck OLED, ROG Ally and the Legion Go). I honestly think the Legion Go has potential. But, right now it is my least used handheld. I managed to boost the speaker volume with a third-party app. The software is so far behind SteamOS and ROG Ally Software. I can't believe they launched it like this knowing what the competition has already accomplished. I do like the screen, but if you are playing a game in 800p on a 1600p screen it doesn't look at as crisp or as clear. And if you play in 1200p or 1600p expect lower frame rates. Not sure the higher resolution screen was a good idea. I like it but I have gripes. I would definitely rank the ROG Ally above this device in most categories. But for FPS this is the one I like to use. I do like the fact that the device can be charged while in the case. But I think this device should have been a 1080p device with native landscape screen. And then there is the battery life. Until recently, the device would drain even while plugged in. They fixed this with the latest BIOS and they added the option for 6GB UMA. I hardly use the FPS mode. It feels like I have to relearn how to play FPS games which makes me less competitive. I think this device will improve over time. But it should it have not been released unfinished. Having said all of that, my most used are the 1). Steam Deck OLED, 2). ROG Ally, 3). Legion Go

I just got mine yesterday and I had some issues with performance until I adjusted the performance profile. Also, I had that EQ app installed which actually caused horrible performance issues. As soon as I uninstalled it and rebooted everything was fine. I chose 6gb vram in the bios. So far it's actually performing better than my rog ally. Also, I had to remember to adjust my in game graphics and resolution to get better frame rates because some games try to run at ultra at 2k. The software does need to be better the way they gimped the controls and design to shoehorn in that stupid fps mode is dumb. Also, I remapped the buttons at the top as start and select. Also selecting auto with the hotkey plus y or whatever improved performance a lot. Okay, I'm done. 🥵

I mean, there have already been tons of side by side equal settings, even lowering legion, go ram speed to equal the rog. So far, i haven't seen a game the Ally has won. By won though the legion only gets a few fps more in every game, but again, that is lowering the ram speed. Tried both in general and the go beat up my ally on every level. Dislike the legion go 3rd party shop, would rather have them work with steam or some other launcher. It is definently a more technical device, but to me, that's a good thing. If i can have a better system for limited effort than thats a positive.

The Steamdeck is great, but the limitations to Steam OS, and lack of compatibility with several games really hinder it. Even Downward facing speakers on laptops are terrible because you put your laptop on a table or cooling pad it can really muffle the sound and make it sound terrible. Plus with the Legion Go you are holding the device where the speakers are so it's no wonder the sound of them isn't very good without headphones because you are muffling it. Yeah 16gb isn't enough when it shared memory between System and vRAM. Yeah with these higher end handhelds like the Ally and the Legion go GDPwin got it right with their 2023 max 2 with 2 RAM configurations 32gb and 64gb however that device is more expensive than the Ally or the Legion go. Even Aya offers devices with 32GB of vRAM. However the Steam Deck got it right with the location of the SD card reader However the Legion Go with the location of their SD card reader its location of the Vent BUT it is not directly next to it like it is on the Ally. It is much further away. So from the looks of it Lenovo got the location of the card reader right as well. If I were to get a Windows based handheld I would go for a GDPwin Max 2 2023 model because I like the way that device looks and it is even more of a desktop replacement than the Legion Go.

None of these handhelds are perfect but give them another year and they will be a lot better.. tbf they aren’t far off the mark now. I have an OG SD and have just tried the LGO over the holidays… yes it’s plays better than the steam deck but not on all titles… the Lego’s mighty screen can really f’u up when trying to dial in a good performance setting ( some games just don’t play as well as the Deck on 800p). There is a lot to love about the LGO but the speakers let it down even after software tweaks and sure you can wear headphones but the forward facing speakers on the deck just give a better experience. FPS mode is a good idea but the ergonomics are shit and the mapping goes to pot when you enable it. I found most issues can be worked around but I return my go because of the wobbly controllers (tape sorted it but I’m not taping a 700 buck divice!). Now I need to workout if I will buy again the LGO or wait 6 months for a new gen of handhelds to come to market…. Because you all know they are going to be better devices.

This was a horrible investment wish I never bought this hand held device. First month I dealt with it just shutting down or it would run and ten the screen black. Then after that it glitched too much on any game I played I downloaded a game and it was on my screen upside down for some reason and it loads up like that every time so I just gave up on that game. And now I’m dealing with it pretty much working whenever it wants. Sometimes it’ll connect to WiFi and other times it won’t even if I reset it etc. really is a waste of time and money. Only thing it’s good for is using it like a computer. It’s an actual piece of shit
