All great advice. I look at it this way, I’m a company driver, for my company. I pay myself company driver wage and put EVERYTHING into my truck fund/maintenance fund/ emergency fund.

I've been in business 5 years this year has been by far the worst year I have had on record yet . I am down Almost 30000 from last year this time and have done just about the same amount of miles. I almost closed my doors last month period I decided to give it one more shot with a new Carrier. I had to float my costs for forty five days before I would see a paycheck and that costs me ten grand. I am enjoying watching your journey so keep the videos coming. I hope that you're successful. And it ends up being what you wanted to do for the long-term.

I just became an owner op myself not even a week ago and I couldn’t agree more about the watching how you spend your money. I’m not really much of a spender myself but I’ve heard stories of other owner ops going out and getting these brand new 100k cars right when they start and I’m just like why???? Lol to each his own ig, all I know is anytime people get a hankering to spend money just remember that your business and your maintenance fund is EVERYTHING. Save when the times are good so when the bad times come they aren’t so bad hopefully. Anyways great vid man! I wish you luck in your business can’t wait to see how you progress😁

Sounds like we started up at the same time. Good points made here! I didn't try and fool myself about the maintenance; I made sure to set aside some funds for an otherwise trouble-free looking used truck, and I am so glad that I did. Spent thousands on maintenance in my first couple weeks, not to mention how much went towards fueling costs. Even as unpredictable as trucking goes, being proactive will give us a much better chance at staying ahead of the troubles.

I don’t have my own authority I’m leased on to a carrier running under there numbers so I don’t have my own DOT & MC #s bro …I didn’t really find it beneficial in this market so I decided to partner with a carrier & use theirs ..& thanks for the support bro I appreciate it!! Thanks for the info kb, Ive been having mines since 2018 I am 26 now I’ve worked a few jobs but didn’t last to long in any of my jobs. I got about 50k saved right now and saving some more I’m waiting till this year ends and hopefully 2024 I’m going to buy a used semi cash and look for a trailer to buy as well. If I lease on to a company do they usually provide the trailer or would I have to get my own? Also if I get a the semi cash I would Be saving a lot on over head would I be able to have more success on my end without to much over head? And also how much was ur start up cost? Thanks bro appreciate it
@TruckingTransparency Жыл бұрын
Some carriers provide the trailers some you can rent one from them at an additional weekly cost …& yeah I’m sure without a truck note that’s one less bill so yeah for sure 👍🏽….& I went over my start up cost in my last “expense” video …thanks for watching bro!

Make sure you get extended warranty on Engine and def system if they have it . Also need 20,000 for maintenance (get a loan for that)
@BegreatBerich11 ай бұрын
@@anonymoustrucker1782 I’m trying to Stay away from loans as much as possible I have some money saved and saving up some More that’s why I wanna buy the truck outright and see if I can just lease on to a company untill I’m ready to get my own authority.

Not sure why people are becoming owner ops right now. Ignorance? I know you’re not an independent but even the bigger carriers are struggling so why now? Why lease on to a carrier that is also struggling?
