After a Dam Failure - Are there any fish left?

Finding out if any fish are left after the dam failed. The answer is... yes! I hope you enjoy this video!

@Drake Peterson Definitely. I am extremely interested to see where the DNR goes with it. If they do nothing then perhaps the dam just gets removed entirely. Who knows?

The area is amazing when full and wild looking when almost empty. We have been going at least once a month to see the changes and of course, fish. It's very interesting and the fishing is incredible. I spoke to a DNR rep about it. It's been his job to remove landlocked fish and record water depth. He said that area takes up all his time now. We fished it 10/29 and the water was extremely low. They have begun work on the diversion channel and built up the levee. There were many onlookers curious to see how it will get fixed. The entire area shakes underfoot as they dose the trees west of the levee. It's unrecognizable now.

Awesome as always! Hopefully the creek can rise above whatever dam remnants remain with fall rains and higher water, and those fish can disperse somewhere downstream into bigger water. It seems the only way they'd survive...

Believe it or not but my uncle got his biggest brook trout from that area. He was absolutely shocked.

@@HaightsWanderings at least 20 years ago. He doesn't live too far from that stretch and used to fish it regularly. I'm skeptical as well but he isn't one to tell fish stories.

Don't worry about the fish. It seems big enough river so that it won't freeze to the bottom. And muddy banks will be vegetated within a year or two. And the freezing would be even worse in the dammed river, because the water just sits still.
