When I've worked on some video projects in the past I can't stand watching them afterwards. Especially anything funny. It becomes painful after seeing every second of it repeated over and over as you try to get things right. Then afterwards, when it has been sent out, you see little flaws you didn't fix because you were just too sick of editing it.

Creativity and drug induced perception are only sometimes similar. Drugs might make reality look like Cyriak's animation, but it takes craftsmanship to share your perception with the world. Grasping the plasticity of perceived reality doesn't require drugs - psychedelic art might have a similar effect like drugs though, without the chemical pollution that goes with it.

It's, of course, unsurprising that he doesn't take any drugs to produce a video. People affected by any drug are very unlikely to be able to dedicate themselves to the highly tedious and time-consuming task of editing a video like those of Cyriak. But in a way, isn't that a bit more terrifying, that all of the absurd and frightening images that we see are the product of a perfectly sober mind, simply functioning the way it always does?

That's not entirely true, some of my best stuff I've ever made in Ableton and Photoshop was under the influence of weed or acid. It can make it much less tedious, and bring me closer in tune to the idea I'm trying to express. EDIT: To clarify, that doesn't mean anyone who is creative has to be on drugs. Just saying it's inaccurate to say someone on drugs can't do something as time-consuming and creative as this.

Was definitely illuminating to see how you made such an amazing psuedo-3D animation from a tiny bit of limited-angle footage. I actually own CS5 but haven't used it for much beyond a little Photoshop since I've been using Sony Vegas and Jasc Paint Shop Pro for so many years. However, I'm working on a KZbin Poop collab that needs some visuals in the second half that are beyond Vegas' capabilities, and watching this has given me enough confidence to tackle After Effects for the first time to create them. nice, I'll keep an eye out for you on twitch sunday evenings. gave me a lot to think about., mostly "why the hell am I using sony vegas when AE looks so much better?" I think after you've gone through a few of your videos a stream of fruit loops would be cool showing how you build the tracks. I made a few songs on there and it's a lot like working on animation, adding little loops that work with each other. It comes with it's own set of problems to solve. I only found your channel around a month back and loved every video. I wish I found it earlier as there's so much I picked up in a short time breaking parts of your videos down.. this stream was spot on. Enjoy your boring biscuits and normal tea (the best kind of tea, fancy tea is rubbish).

Well vegas != after effects, the adobe product to compare vegas too is premier. The closest thing to AE is Hitfilm

I guess my only proper experience is with vegas, never heard of hitfilm. Im guessing it's not free. I had a cracked version of AE years ago but never got into it, it was too much for the simple things I was trying to make. time to move on from vegas I think and give some other programs a shot.. see if any of them make sense now I know what a few of the bits and bobs are. I only really work with cut outs and a little video., vegas is great for editing game footage, but it seems to struggle when i layer up animations. I needs a lot of rendering objects together to run smooth.. what would be nice is a way to render so there's no background.. I generally green the background to a pre-set i can key out before rendering.
