After Effects Tips - Trim paths & Fills

Nothing worse than wanting to use a trim path but the fill always messes up. Although not perfect I had a brainwave this am to create a trim path on a fill like this. I'm sure it's been done before but thought I'd make the video all the same. Hopefully this helps at least one person!

Thanks for sending this out there! Quick question - what would be the difference between doing it this way and using "Track Matte" in the layers panel? If worrying about drift, setting the masked shape layer used for the trim path as a child of the reveal shape, it'll obey and transforms you set to the parent. Just a thought - there are myriad ways to do anything in AE. haha!

we dont need set matte for that simple masking is enough lol

This was a small example. If you have a bigger shape layer this is vital. Unless you like spending time doing something the slow way?

Ahhh now it is 2023 version it dos not work if layers are 3D

No, 3d layers cant use track matte if Cinema 4D Renderer is used :(
