The problem also exists when there is a double Space anywhere in a full path to the project file. I.e. if any outer folder name contains double space, you'll get this error.

apparently, if you rename the folder in which it was in, the same thing happens. in that case, renaming it back does not help. in that case you simply need to move your after effects project out of that folder, into a new location.... just experienced dis..

I moved the whole folder of my project to a different PC, and I renamed the root folder so I could keep track of versions ("Project folder - old PC") for example. Deleting the hyphen (ie "Project Folder old PC") meant it worked! Didn't need to move anything in my case. Thought I'd post this in case anyone else had this particular issue!

Hello, You will get this error when you rename a file with extra space or special characters, Maybe you have extra space in your file name. Please check carefully, if the problem is not solved send me your file and I will try to fix it.

I did the "collect files" feature and it's giving me this error.. none of the files have extra spaces nor do the folders.. also no special characters. such an annoying bug but dragging it into AE opened the file allowing me to make edits at least. thanks for that..

You get this error after file collection because you have already renamed the file. Although you have changed just one character but you have changed it. Anyway your problem is solved now i'm happy

I had this problem. It seemed to be related to having the project uploaded to a shared Google Drive folder. I dragged the project into a fresh one and when I saved it to my desktop I was able to access to access it again without the warning. Hope this can help someone out there.

Thanks for your work! But for me, the only timepass methods work. :( In my case, all of the projects in the same portable SSD Drive get same warning, and can't be opened directly from the folder. I can only open the AE projects with these timepass methods in my SSD, and can open AE projects directly from the other Drive. And I know when this problem has beganed. After 'Increment and Save', I replace the original project. And then, I opend the increment '02' project, that was the beginning. After that, All of my AE projects in that same Drive got same problem. Please, if you can solve my case, reply to me.

Hi, I had a similar problem, and it wasn't in the file name. In my case, I found a "double space" in the name of one of the folders on the file path. There may be a folder on your SSD that has a similar problem in its name.

Didnt work for me BUT, the naming method got me thinking it has something to do with the file directory location. I copy and paste the aep file to desktop, and somehow fixed it, i quickly open and collect the file for backup. anyway, thank you
