That's what I understood... although i skipped to end... recently watched Lu Guanyu version where she was her own stand in ... but this one had the previous female ( who had left the ML for another man) die in some clinic getting abortion ..

I couldn't understand how she could be a stand in for a person who was so outgoing and sports mad 😀 Anyway this stand-in business I find rather repulsive... makes the ML sound like a stalker psycho... also wouldn't she always have the doubt whenever he is with her whether he is imagining the dead woman 😑 but then as you pointed out the FL anyway had no self respect
