I absolutely love this story. It is extremely realistic. Your partner need not be a cheater or an abuser for you to leave them. Neglect is a major reason too which unfortunately gets overlooked by society. If someone has neglected you and taken you for granted for so long it's best to leave them and not fall for their fake promises. Relationships need maintainance too.

Writer…you missed such a good opportunity. When she noticed he wasn’t reading her messages…why didn’t you have her ask him for a divorce in them…each day? Then later suggest he go back to her messages and tell him…why don’t you go back and read my last 7 messages again, since you’ve forgotten what they said. Imagine the looks on his face as he opened each one and then looked at his generic responses. PRICELESS!!!

I have always thought it is better to be alone than alone in a relationship. That stagnated type of relationship with neglect and willful ignorance can create just as much emotional damage and isolation as a relationship ending with cheating. For that, as the other comments said, I like how she chose herself after so much disappointment. And that is the key death to a relationship--any relationship.

Meh. This story had me on the fence. He was wrong because he didnt listen to her and because he didnt even try to take an interest in her work. He was also wrong because he didnt seem to make quality time for her. She was wrong because she didnt tell him that she held onto animosity towards her not going out of the country on business because of their engagement or wedding or whatever. They became like roommates. But thats when you have to work harder.
