It’s as if they only used the results from the first page of google searches about Israel. For example, we don’t have 13 million people. We have around 7million. I live along the Rio Grande River and they flood their pecan groves instead of using drip irrigation. The few farmers that do drip irrigation sell their excess water and it pays for itself in just a few years in water sales let alone lower water costs as there are old water rights agreements going back over 150 years and more. Some don't farm hardly at all (must farm something or no water) and just sell their water.

Most of the potable water is now desalinated sea water. About 80 percent is recycled to agriculture. All flood water is routed to underground natural reservoirs. Thus the fish farms use mainly recycled water and offers local and imported species of fish in rapidly improving quality.

Drip irrigation together with planting plants, that can handle more saline conditions is revolutionary easy to reproduce around the globe. I also really like the many ways deserts around the globes are greened, of course only those that will last. Certain techniques of digging half moons for water detention or of putting in rocks in a stream are truly simple, but with amazing results. I always wonder why we can put billions into the sky, but not millions into helping people to live sustainably. May all choose to invest their money in projects that aid humans and animals alike.

Trickle/drip irrigation has been invented by countless people almost as long as people have been farming. The only thing about this that is sustainable is the aquaculture. Irrigating the desert will eventually lead to salt flats unless they can successfully terraform to increase precipitation. Aquaponics around the Dead Sea could be hugely productive though (and probably already is).
