Tragic comedy in depression has been done many times masterfully before, maybe not as a ‘sitcom’ (hazarding a guess the trailer is making it look more light hearted tone than it really is). Thats not to say it’s good or bad, it might be great. But to say he’s “always pushing taboos”, other than the brilliant Office and Extras, Gervais ususlly just does a repetitive talentless vsrsion of something others have done better before and he gets all the praise. Let’s hope this new show is better

I've just finished watching the whole series on Netflix. Reminds me of the movie 50/50 with Joseph Gordon-Levitt with the whole cancer theme and the mix of deep despair and levity. Much like the happy and sad faces of the masquerade masks that represent life's tendency to be viewed both through the lens of comedy and one of tragedy. I really enjoyed the series. It had me in tears at times, imagining myself in the main character's situation. I thought the writing was very good. The emotional deliveries felt genuine. Actors were superb. The lessons being taught and the inspiring speeches from the characters were all very relatable and well executed I think Ricky Gervais and his cast and crew members deserve a lot of praise for this particular body of work. Thanks for putting this together so people like me can be entertained. Worth a rewatch in the future.

Within the last 4 years I have lost my Mom, Grandma, and Grandpa... the 3 people that raised me and meant the most to me... and seeing this show has just really brought a lot of memories and emotions to the surface for me. For example, the joke in this trailer with the pedo/ginger cunt bit.....totally gold.....funny, I can't recall the last show or film with that sort of thing in it. Everything is bland and creatives are terrified of a backlash or offending people.

these trailers feel like they were made with love, its a total contrast to american based shows on netflix where trailers are shown with upbeat pop remixes and characters going"wild" and showing how they are outside or unique , while on the other this trailer shows Ricky as a broken stubborn annoyed man mourning loss and getting sick of his life while telling people he can just shoot himself if he gets bored being grumpy thats literally something that would never be joked about in an american production today
