The interesting thing about sleep is that no one actually knows what it’s like to be unconscious. Dreams don’t count because they’re a sort of semi-consciousness, technically speaking. Dreamless sleep is the closest thing a living human has to experiencing death. This is because both are characterized by a loss of consciousness. The key difference is that after sleep, you wake up. My answer to what actual death feels like is informed by the fact that in order to perceive that you fell asleep, you must first wake up; death then probably feels like nothing at all-permanent anesthesia
@Akkodha.4 ай бұрын
The whole thing of being unconscious is being... well.. not conscious. consciousness is the only way to perceive, so unconsciousness is the lack of any and all perception, which is fascinating.

But I think it's important to not lose hope and keep your ideals, which is hardest when times are bad. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Godspeed

I’ve heard of that bigger consciousness idea, but I’ve never heard someone say that when a new human arrives, a small part of that consciousness goes to them. It makes me wonder what exactly is this big consciousness. Why are two small portions of such a large thing so vastly different? I agree it’s important to not lose hope and keep your ideals when things get rough. Personally, I’ve had my own ideas and concepts of death and the afterlife, but in the end of the day, I believe that I won’t know until my time comes.

I'm 21. I've been thinking about it lately, too. Especially when you start to realize how fast time flies. Most likely (for now), it seems to me that there will be nothing after death, just as there was nothing before we were born. You won't even have the consciousness to realize this nothingness, just like when you sleep without any dreams. You just don't exist. Reincarnation? Maybe. Most likely. Just not in the form we imagine. After all, people are born and gain the same consciousness as we have now every day. Of course, it will be far from us, and there will be no "us" there. There will be a completely different person who will call himself "I", and probably will also try to understand what will happen after death. About religion, I doubt it. Now, in the time we live in, we can think rationally with our heads and realize that religion itself is a very doubtful thing. The existence of any of the gods has never been confirmed except by "word of mouth". Religion was used to conquer cities, enslave and kill, if you will - this has been confirmed and more than once. And of course it doesn't mean that religion is something bad - thanks to religion, among other things, education appeared, and we have what we have. Of course, there are still a huge number of believers, I have nothing against it, but you should not listen to any prophetic instructions about the truth. There are as many gods as there are nations, and somehow everyone is sure that they are absolutely right (others are wrong accordingly). Listen to yourself. You are a human being like everyone else. What you think is the truth.

Thinking of this and I have concluded that regardless of whatever is to come after death simply just live so that you can be there and not regret living. Hey girl! I’m Christian and you bring up some good points. Not everything that happens is part of God’s plan. God is good and doesn’t want to see His people hurt… with that being said, He also does not control us. If He were to stop a person from murdering someone else, then He’d have to stop all of us from doing anything sinful (it’s only fair). But God did not create us to be robots. He gave us free will. This is because true love cannot exist without a choice. He does not want to force us into obeying Him. All the evil you mention is a result of human actions, not God. God sacrificed* Himself so that we may be delivered from evil. Hope this helps ❤

@@leef9242How so? Its similar to a parent wanting the best for their kid, but also not wanting to be overly controlling. They give their kid freedom knowing they could go against them somehow (ex. letting ur kid go out, knowing they might get drunk despite ur wishes, or “plan” for them). God has a plan for us but He does not force us to follow that plan. We have free will to do as we choose :) Also His plan does not dictate every aspect of our lives in the sense where we lose our individuality. There’s more to a person than just morality, and God cares abt the things we care about, no matter how small or big. It even says in the Bible that when we delight ourselves in the Lord, He’ll give us the desires of our heart (Psalm 37:4). *Our* heart

They're just different, so why yearn for a perfect life where you are a part of a perfectly acceptable existance. I have not watched the Good Place, but the question of why a good God would allow evil in his creation or even positively create it and wether people go to hell has vexed people for centuries and spawned many intreaguing responses. Engaging the literature on this subject is one of the most fruitful endeavours I can think of. It is fruitful even to the atheist and agnostic as it seems to be a narrowly religious question but has implications for most of our other assumptions about the world. Your state of mind at the time of death determines what happens after you die. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed. That means your awareness has its own existence apart from your body and continues after death, though in another form.

When you say "consciousness is the only fundamental reality and everything else is derivative," are you referring to solipsism? In that case, wouldn't only your consciousness be the only fundamental reality? Using that philosophy, you can't verify that your friends or family are sentient because you are not in their minds to experience what they think, if they think at all. Also, how do you know that your consciousness must continue after death? When you sleep, you temporarily lose consciousness. If what you say is true, shouldn't it be impossible to lose consciousness ever, even if only temporarily?

Like they want to cease to exist because they can't be happy for all of eternity. That made me think a lot about my own wishes for immortality and if it was good or not. Since then i've reached the verdict that nothing matters and life should end without any rewards for living it, because then it becomes a matter of doing what you like constantly, without regrets or false promises. i think religion simply exists to give people a purpose to live/a reason to live, i don't really follow any religion but i don't hate on the idea of religion either. When you mentioned how Christians say "everything happens for a reason" that's really just their way of saying "move on and look forward because there's always light at the end of the road" although its just a dumb blanket statement that can be applied to just about any bad situation, it at the very least keeps their hopes for a better life and world going. This is the purpose of all religion in the world, although it makes us blind to a lot of the bad in the world, at least it keeps some of us happy, all religion is blind but at least it keeps most of the world happy and connected. Personally, I believe in myself more than anyone on this world, not because i have massive ego (i don't) but because i think its the real way to live life and i think you should do it too. I've seen your other recent video "is it all really worth it?" (i actually saw that one first bc it appear on my youtube for some reason) and i'd like to tell you that. If you really just want to disappear from the internet, then go ahead and make it your one and only goal. Travel to whatever country you want, maybe learn a new language, meet some new friends and learn to forget about your past, your parents don't have absolute control over your life as an adult, so do what your heart tells you. I for one don't really have "great" parents and tbh i wish someone could just take a gadget and wipe my mind clean so i can forget all the things witnessed and gone through as a child. But im just going to have to live with it. If you read this far i would just like to tell you. I don't know who or what you think i am or what i am after reading all of this, maybe you think im some 40 year old doctor or 26 year old psychologist that has everything sorted in life. I've gone through my personal struggles and if it wasn't for me believing in myself i would killed myself a long time ago. But i would just like to tell you that next year i will be graduating highschool. Im proud of myself for making it this far, and although my life is really just about to begin, I really hope that my dream wont let me down because its all i ever want. No one can take your will to live the life you want, so do whatever you want and don't let others hold you back.

See the secret to it, as far as I have found, is that it really doesnt matter what comes next. Far as you, I, and anybody else is concerned, what we know of for sure is right now, so you gotta make the most of what youve got, enjoy it, make some great memories, and try not to have too many regrets. Youre likely to have a few, by the time the candle goes out, but try to find the good in those situations if you can. For me, i just dont think about whats next, and live in the now. That said, much like everyone else, youll have quiet moments that eventually circle around to it, so thats when you think deep on it, look for whatever possibilities or meanings you want to derive from it, and when those moments pass, and life comes a calling again, let those thoughts pass as well, and go back to fully experiencing that moment. Lifes too short to sit trying to figure out something we dont have any definitive way to answer yet, unless of course if you want to go into science to try to finally answer that question, then full steam ahead. My two cents on it it doesn't work if you keep thinking about time linearly. Time exists only to give chronology to events. For a year now i began to think of "I" the person as separate from the "I" that experiences reality. Ive come to the conclusion that nothing physically is separating me as "different" than another person. The tissue, molecules and atoms that make me are interchangeable with someone elses. Therefore i should begin to consider a part of myself as humanity itself. Connecting with other humans is infinitely rewarding. As i close my eyes and imagine my self as a part of a web of every person that came before me and every person that will come after me. I imagine everyone agreeing on something, and that something is the true essence of humanity.

Saw this video and it brought back some feelings. I hope you're fine, but when I thought about this at 16, I felt extremely bad. Now I'm 18 and I've figured out things that I wish I had heard two years ago, life would have made more sense. I realized that the need for life after death comes from the desire to find meaning in it all, to remain or leave something behind. I read some books, and with some knowledge I came up with a concept that I had not seen anywhere: yes, after death nothing happens to you, the same nothing as before you were born. But reincarnation in some religions could interpret a dynamic hidden from everyone: in your family you have your own clear position, a role that you perform without knowing it. And the fact is that every family has these roles, and they are repeated every couple of generations. You are just part of the process of the formation of this role, a certain idea that lived before your current body and will live after, and the more experience you gain in how to get along in this role, the easier it will be for your, for example, granddaughter, that will behave similar to you. What should you do? - you actually know yourself. Do what you truly like and what you consider important for the world, and this is your purpose. I based it on my psychological and relegious research, and I could talk about this topic in more detail, and about God, there is a very sensually logical explanation for everything. But that this message will disappear in the layer of a request or all sorts of accusations, so I don’t want to write a book here. And so, I wish you good luck, I hope that if you see this, you will find it useful, this is important to me

I've considered a lot of the same things. The only conclusion I've drawn is that we are not created with some specific intent or benevolent reason (for the reasons you spoke about) and everything about you and I is way too random to really think that someone is controlling it. Who would believe me if I said that someone created you with a specific purpose, as a part of a specific plan, but also you can't choose anything about yourself, and every attribute and experience you have that makes you "you" is a result of this environment that they created to be completely random and self-sufficient. Like what's the point of that other than to offer moral guidance (something people ought not need, and also not like it's making people very moral in practice either) or to control people? The only comfort I have, which I also touched on in a comment I left on your other video from June10, is that death is inevitable for us, which means that we will, without a doubt, learn what happens after death. And in my opinion, if you grasp onto what you can when you're alive, no benevolent being will put you in a bad afterlife, and if there is nothing after we die, oh well :P . "If I did... take as many out as I can-..." caught me so off guard lmao

@@kodax340 my sins have been so much, sins are like a dirt on our bodies which we realize they are on us but after cleaning our bodies they are still on us, after days or after several hours we still feel that feelings of dirtiness. I was abusing social media for a like 2 years, because of my boredom I was making days digged in full of hatred,no not even that, to simply wrap it out I was doing it go kill a time, by abusing social media I mean making it worse place to others, I would catch a fish and fry it in the crowd which I was surrounded of. That boredom didn't stop, but I left Social media because I realized I wasn't that person which I made in there but I didn't know myself. I became addicted to many things, you ask. Porns?workout?jog? projecting? competitive games?adult games? applications? All of them, there were probably many, probably. It isn't problem to appreciate a human's works and realize how much we are capable of, there is no foul in learning what we humans are capable of, THIS IS THE POINT OF THE RENAISSANCE but getting addicted over it when you need to practice your own self?. To find God it means find peace, to finally feel that someone really cares for you, even if you don't love yourself someone does and that love is eternally. was running from my crisis, not existential but the existential crisis was a problem too but I had identity crisis. So I was just running from the problems which I had to face, and all of these days were unpredictable. I was doing all deadly sins much, so much that they were normal for me. And now? I still have big problems, I still have to face problems. I feel guilty I don't wanna do it but what can I DO? I'm just human. Point is that don't be too harsh towards yourself, you gotta accept that, that wicked Nature we humans posses.

Most people tend to think about this a lot in their lives. I've thought about it a lot too. I believe that there probably is/was a creator to the universe though I don't subscribe to any religion that exists in the world, because religions don't make much sense to me. I don't think there's a grand purpose to everything but I think there is an intent behind the world and the universe, but what happens is uncontrolled. I think you have a good and rational line of thinking but don't ponder on it too much. For now it doesn't matter since the result will more than likely be the same regardless of if we think about it or not. Just kinda live your life and enjoy what you enjoy, and whatever happens after we'll have to see. I personally believe in the soul and that in death we sort of just transcend into a different plane, or become apart of the energy of the universe even. I think there's way more to nature than science is aware and all that. And I 100% believe in spirits due to my personal experiences. But I still don't really think about it too much.

Of course I had to watch another video, and I surely did enjoy this one too. For me personally, I was skeptical about many religions and all that. Where do we go if not for Heaven or Hell But in time, it varies with all people, but in one way I do see some people, who like myself, looking for guidance for God. We have asked that question before when all these crimes like you described in the video is allowed to happen. I do sense you means of confusion and you are looking for answers. Now this is simply a suggestion, but try watching a little of 'The Chosen' on KZbin. It is free, they get donations to help support the production of this series, but its a story of Jesus and his disciples, mainly the story of his disciples. Like I stated I was not so much of a religious type, but the show did impact me significantly and the issues and trauma and struggles the disciples had to go though until meeting Jesus, really resonate with me, like I was there on the production set, immersed, like the show was speaking through me. Now, it does seem hyperbolic to say this, but I hope this show would make an impact on you and find those questions that you have asked, as much as did for me.

I’ve had very similar thoughts about our fate in this world, and the way I’ve come to understand it is this: There will always be bad things, whether natural or human-caused. We can’t control everything, but for all the bad we endure, the human spirit and goodness always manage to persist, even in the smallest forms. This could be a small act of charity to a struggling homeless person or a simple act of human warmth towards another. We’re all capable of evil and selfishness, but overcoming that and striving to help our fellow humans and improve the world is our purpose here. At the end of my life, I want to look back and see what I have done for those around me, my friends and family. I want to know that I helped, even in the smallest ways. And if I can see that, I would be content. Then, as I drift off into the void, I can do so with the peace of knowing I made a positive impact. It doesn’t matter where you go after; what matters is feeling that you helped and impacted your world

I came very very close to ending it all once, but I don't get the reasoning behind "taking others with me". There's a saying in my language: Don't do to others what you don't wish done to you. Would you want the choice of life or death with your own life be taken away from you? It a good advice to follow, not just for the benefits of others, but for your own as well. Also, if you're interested in thinking about whether we live in a simulation or not, i suggest learning some theoretical physics, for example general relativity, quantum behavior of particles, particle physics etc. Physics is our best effort in understanding the nature of our existence.

I doubt you'll see this but maybe it will help someone. People think of death the way a child thinks of adulthood, they accept that will happen but have no comprehension of it and so they push it to the back of their mind. It's very good that on the cusp of actual adulthood you're thinking about this stuff, because most people either don't think about it or they refuse to even try and process it. One thing to understand that this world is not the destination, there is no happily ever after here, no matter how much wealth or pleasure you have here you are going to lose everything. All of your goals for anything material or for pleasant experiences will be lost. You can have acres and acres of land but in the end all you'll have is 6ft of dirt. This life could really be compared to pregnancy, everything that happens in your development here will permanently effect you, but its a temporary arrangement. We are passing into eternity and what matters is the state of your soul at death, have you healed the world and purified yourself or have you harmed others and darkened your soul? Hell isn't about a list of legal transgressions, its about how you've united yourself to God's nature. Everyone is going to encounter the God-Man Jesus Christ in his full Divinity. He is a consuming fire, which burns those who hate Goodness but comforts those who love Goodness. Metal isn't harmed by fire, but it begins to glow and contain heat itself, this is Heaven. Wax melts before fire and sulks downwards, this is Hell. But the same fire is enveloping both, its what they are made of that causes their subjective experience. If our experience in life impact our eternal experience, then what we suffer might make some more sense. But ultimately what you're struggling with is Nihilism, I highly recommend you like into the life and writings of a man named Seraphim Rose, there's a good video on one of his works called "God's Revelation to the Human Heart". If you get anything out of this please watch that video, it may change your life.

What is there to fear about the afterlife? It's either A: nothingness without end in which case you don't have to do shit to be ok after your death. B: heaven, hell, purgatory or their variations in which case, i believe, just be a good enough person not blind to your wrongdoings and it'll be ok. Yes from spritual understandings this is all a dream but we are not being controlled we are here due to our own choice. Firstly, I want to say that I hope you are doing well, and that regardless, I and my wife will be praying for you and your current journey. All the best to you regardless of the path you choose throughout your life. But since you asked some good questions, I would like to be try to answer one of them in particular. To be upfront, I should first say not all Christians believe in free will. I, however, strongly feel that without free will, Christianity falls apart. Thusly I will speak from a free-will-believing protestant Christian point of view, but I implore you to research more and ask questions; it's good and healthy. TL;DR: God wants us to truly love him. True love cannot be taken, it must be freely given; therefore, God gives us free will so that we can truly love Him as He loves us. God does not want evil to happen, but since evil is necessity if we there to be true love and free will, God works around the evil of the world, which is why many Christian say things are a part of God's plan. Hypothetically if there was no free will, God would have a plan for where we have perfect lives, but since there is evil, God accounts for all actions of evil in his plan. Start To talk on why would a perfectly good God would allow sin and evil, instead of forcing good is a wonderful question to ask. Firstly, let's talk about the nature of God. God is omnipotent and omniscience, meaning God can do anything and knows everything. Omnipotent means God can definitely force our actions, but if you look throughout the Bible, you will see a repeated pattern of God humbling Himself for Mankind. Most notably, God humbling Himself to become Man, limited to the state we inhibit. This shows that it's perfectly reasonable to believe that God would humble Himself to allow Mankind to choose their own lives instead of controlling them. The question then comes to why would God allow this. Now we cannot really expect to fully understand God since He is infinite and we are finite; however, we can at least try to learn more about Him and what might drive Him. There are many interpretations of why God would allow free will at the cost of allowing evil as well. I think my personal favorite is that God wishes for a loving family. This is why He refers to Himself as our Heavenly Father. He wishes the true unconditional love that can only be given, not taken. If we accept the idea that true unconditional love cannot be taken and that God desires it, then it follows logically that God would allow free will, granting us the ability to choose what to do in this gigantic world He made us, but that He longs for us to return the infinite love He gives us. And by loving Him, we would logically follow his Word and do good like Him. The natural consequence of this is of course that not everyone will choose Him, and since God is perfectly good by definition, this means the people that choose to not love God, choose to not love Goodness, which can only lead to more and more evil. A perfectly good person would have to love perfect Goodness or else they would be contradictory. Since evil is doomed to occur and since God loves us, he has a plan for us. If there was no evil, we would likely have us living perfect lives, but since there must be evil, God works around the evil to help us, even if it isn't always clear and hard to see through the fog of evil. This is likely what the Christians you mentioned were talking about when they mention God's plan. It is not his preferred plan in a sense, but it is perfect in the sense that it accounts for everything, because God is omniscience and can plan around all things. End I know this is a lot and doesn't even begin to answer everything, never mind any new questions you may have, but I pray that this comment at least gets you thinking about what do you truly believe? And if not that, at least I hope you know that there are always people out there willing to pray for you, if not actively doing so. God bless.

“Death is finished,” he said to himself. “It is no more.” He drew in air, stopped at mid breath, stretched out, and died. -Lev Tolstoy, “The Death Of Ivan Ilyich” Death is the process of living, as a fundamental law of the universe nothing can go on forever and therefore neither will you nor anything that lives. To be alive is to go through the process of death every single minute of existence, to decay slowly until you can’t anymore. What does this mean? I think what it means and what matters most is to remember that you are alive and that means you are dying. Your time is limited and you need to use it now. Don’t get yourself caught up in whether or not there’s an “after” and instead focus on the “now”. Jewish theology believes there is an afterlife but there’s a tremendous focus on ignoring its existence, pretend like you’re not going to live on, treat every day as if it’s another tick on a clock. Regardless of what you believe religiously your time here as you will run out, and there’s no use dwelling on the end of death when you have the now.

I went through a word obsession witht the after life at around the ages of 16-18 that kinda persists till now, 3 years later, but it used to be a major source of anxiety to me. Now a few years past I still am not a fan of thinking about it but it doesn't dominate my mind like it used to. Realistically we will cease to exist, every bit of information we have seems to point to nothing. And not nothing as in nothing to perceive, but as in nothing nothing. A nothingness which you don't exist to percieve, it's not black, it's not anything, it's like deleting a file. We are in function chemical computers. That horrified me and still kinda does but also has kept me alive. I hope there is a damnation that exists for me but am most doubtful of its existence (that sounds edgy as fuck) Most realistically if there is a higher power they likely are misenterprsted by nearly all on this earth and likely exist on a level far beyond our understanding. They likely have motivations and goals far beyond any human understanding and it still wouldn't confirm an afterlife. Having seem this and your other video "is it really worth it" I can say I can sympathize with some individual points but I would say that you should find something which motivated you. Want to escape society, pursue homesteading. It seems some of your engagement with online stuff like tiktok and telegram is unhealthy and you should probably try to distance from it. It does not mean the way people are treating you is right, but their actions being wrong doesn't engage the harm they can cause. It seems like it's worth distancing yourself the best you can from all that. Yeah people may still remember but they are likely people you won't meet or see, and after school it is entirely plausible that you won't talk to a lot of people who knew you in that era. All things fade with time and our individual life times are short so why not see them out till the end. Time moves faster the older you get. More things fade, the world changes around you, you experience more things get more perspective. My general philosophy at this point is we all die some point and when we do we don't get a chance to do more, see more, or experience more. It's just over, and in the span of the universe that time was hardly a blip. If that is the truth then even if it sucks there's no reason to not ride it out, as there is all of eternity where our lives are meaningless, but in this moment they matter. Additionally on the note of taking people out, I would say that is a bad approach. Cutting other peoples experience short does nothing to truly benefit or add meaning to your own and only harms others experiences. The idea of robbing another of their own agency to exist is not a beneficial way to salvage your own situation at the end, nor a good way to be remembered, as the memories of others are what we leave behind, and in the grand scheme of things regardless of acts, all those fade anyways. Causing harm benefits nothing nor any goal nor yourself, if anything it devalues you as a person and an individual, it's a sign of weakness in my opinion, especially if done with the purpose of leaving a mark. Things can get better, they can get worse, but we might as well maximize our experience while we are here. Suffering and joy are all a human experience and the memories modify and create the entities we exist as and change us. If you don't make it to dying a natural death you never reach your final form in my thought process, and thats kinda a waste of a chance to see that. Additionay as far as vacationing as mentioned in the other video, fuck what your parents say, imo do it. Sure the world is dangerous, there are steps to be taken to mitigate it, cary a weapon, be alert, etc. There are great guides to safety, research where you are going, go with a group. Getting to see new places, new peoplw, and new experiences can be extremely benificial, thats something i learned recently having been in more states in the past year and a half than in my whole life. Anyways who knew if you read all this and i dont know if it helps, I always find other perspectives help me sift my thoughts. Push and pull is important to developing a stable position of how one establishes their feelings on a subject. Hopefully you work your way past this, throwing away what in my mind is a one time experience is a waste, and there are certainly things you can go, do, try, and enjoy in this world. With the limited time you have to exist you likely wont get to do all of it so why cut that even shorter, or waste time worrying about it.

When it comes to evil. I think its because without the bad there will never be good. Like a balance. Without good there wont be anything bad. Bad sucks, but we should accept it because we enjoy everything that is good. thats about it
