Really appreciate your honest looks into using these phones in the real world. You touched on a lot of little details that you don't really see in reviews like the detail to animation, how sharp the phones are to hold, and how long it takes to heat up while playing. Those are all so much more important to me than having the brightest screens, the maximumest resolution on the camera, or whether the battery can last 24 hours when running a 480p video. Like you said, all of these phones are just great in their own ways, and so choosing between them comes down to the tiniest details.

Great comparison! The way you've formatted this video is fantastic and the emphasis on user experience as the primary perspective you tackle these comparisons with is incredibly helpful, especially when so many other reviews are primarily focused on the purely technical aspects of the hardware in these phones which, while significant, only tells part of the story about what its like to own and use a device like a folding phone which not just expensive but also a part continuously evolving space. It was particularly interesting to hear you talk about how the different phones were overtaking each other in instances like video editing and exporting over time, really informative writing!

I haven't used the Pixel fold but have both the Zfold 5 and the OnePlus Open and imo the Zfold 5 is just better, at least for me. I love the one handability of the outer display and the aspect ratio of the inner The Open is just too square so when you're watching content you're not really getting anymore screen space then if you were watching on the cover display.

The only problem with Z Fold 5 is that Samsung's one-handed mode still shrinks the screen by keeping the original aspect ratio which is amazing on the S24 Note as it has a big and wide screen but is not good on the narrow screen of the Fold as it makes it even narrower. This is the same problem with the Pixel Fold because Pixel uses the IOS-like one-handed mode where only the height reduces but not the width therefore the Fold is still too wide. Oneplus also uses IOS style one-handed mode but since it is not as wide it feels more manageable one-handed.

Thats understandable. Personally I feel like one hand mode on the fold 5 is easy to use, especially since you can make it bigger or smaller if you wish. I see what you're saying though, and the aspect ratio on the s24 ultra does fit it a little better.

I came for the voice but stayed for the insights. Great vid. I definitely plan to upgrade my Z Fold 4 this year. I'm waiting on Pixel Fold 2 to see if I'll make the switch to Google. My job uses Google Apps and I hear their phones are very pleasant to use.

Pixels are like iPhones in my eyes. They're smooth and simple devices that do what you need them to do despite not having all the extra features.

I have differing opinions on these 3. But that's ok. Differing opinions are dope in tech as long as their isn't brand tribalism that leads to petty arguments. In my opinion, it's one plus open, pixel fold and fold 5. I dig fold 5's multitasking abilities but it's 2nd to the open and pixel fold can't be in that convo. I like the pixel fold's update schedule but hate how long the open takes to get updates. I like the fold 5's animations best but I like one plus's screen brightness. They're all good and I can't ever stay with one for a long time...I feel for anyone shopping for a foldable in 2024 because the market makes it difficult to really choose one as they've all gotten so good...but it's also great to have options for them here in America because we only had one choice until the first half of 2023 in terms of book style foldables. Respect bro 🙏🏿. I appreciate you being able to have different opinions, but still respect mine. I agree with what you said about tribalism and petty arguments, it happens too often across all fanbases. Tech, sports, gaming, anime, etc. Tribalism destroys community imo.

I've had all three of these phones myself, at one point. My current daily driver is the Z Fold 5, so there's your answer for which one I like the best overall.

Depends entirely on your preference. You can't have it all. The tall design is necessary to keep the video large on the inner display. Look at the black bars on video content on anything with a more square design. Bonus is one handed use with OneUI for tall screens.

@@alphaspartan but then it makes the phone closed unusable. Apps look very weird and squished, forcing you to open the phone. I think the pixel has the ideal shape. Still functional one handed, but not compromising the content. The opened screen is fairly square, but that's still great for any other content. I'm ok with having some black bars on videos, if every other thing is vastly better. I never touched the OnePlus, but it seems like it's a good compromise. Very anxious for the pixel fold 2 of the rumors of the new dimensions are true

@@DanielRieger well I'm certainly happy to have options and choices. I think making the phone bigger in every dimension is the only option for some people. Make it taller and wider. Optimize software for one handed use. Gives the phablet size keyboard on the front screen people like from biggest iPhone and Samsung ultra but also a bigger picture on the inner screen to justify not buying a candybar size phone to begin with for video content. Also bigger inner screen is better for multitasking no matter the display ratio Bec you can use landscape or horizontal modes. Basically just take two S2X ultras, stick them together and make it even taller and let Samsung use its OneUI software magic so you never have to reach to the top of the phone like they already do but even more features and polish. Call it the Z Fold Ultra, improve wired charging speed, bigger battery, full size s pen slot (like the one in the tablets) etc. give us a legit tablet that folds into a phone, not the other way around. This might have to be the first tri-fold screen ever lol.

Its weird that they are all folds but all have different strengths and weaknesses. Pixel fold best outer screen and best all around camera. Everything else was horrible...huge bezels, doesnt open all the way, weighs a ton, tensor is trash and the cost is fat too high given the mid range chip One plus open. Decent outer screen amazing zoom camera, light weight and crease barely there but that hige camera bump is awful and really disruptive when you hold the device. Sammy fold. By far best all around software, best inner screen. Absolutely the worst outside screen and worst cameras. I daily the fold 5/S24 ultra despite despite loathing the outer screen on the fold. Another thing that is really annoying on the pixel and OP is not being able to have different outer and inner screens. Absolute deal breaker for me.
