I personally think the Adidas FOG 1’s are very nice. I have a pair and I love them. I also have the 86 low in talc and that has been one of my favorite shoes to wear recently. Wear what you like, and don’t let resell prices dictate whats hot or not.

Rich, Tan and Johnny.. is it possible that you guys just don’t like the Jerry aesthetic anymore but your heart just doesn’t want to admit it? Lmao, no shade at all; I’m just wondering. IMO, the shoes are nice and they looked good on all y’all. Those velvet sweats were dope but it all fits his aesthetic. Maybe that is what is cooked these days? Just a thought.

I don't think it has anything to do with the fact that it looks like his old Nike collab. For me it's the following (strictly look at the FOG 1 and no the other shoes he put out like the '86 low' or 'LA runner': 1. Aesthetic It's basically a mid-cut shoe. That top collar portion of the shoe is definitely throwing people off. We can't exactly complain about that part because it was designed with the purpose of being an on-court shoe. 2. Trends It just doesn't fit the current meta of old money, 90s aesthetic type outfits. People want to look casual and while Jerry killed it at making it the FOG 1 high quality, I think people would much rather wear a fancier looking loafer than a high quality basketball shoe for their old money aesthetic outfit 3. Price Point Johnny's definitely right, that is a fat price point for a shoe that doesn't meet the current people's demand for samba-like shoes. The clothing prices too. If anyone owns both the newest Essentials hoodies vs. the Adidas FOG hoodie, it's straight highway robbery that the FOG hoodie is double the price. If Jerry is going to just put his own twist on current Adidas models, a Fear of God Samba, Gazelle, Handball Spezial or Campus 00, those would be really good.

Great summary. You nailed it. Joggers, drapey , futuristic aesthetic is so 2016. If he dropped a Samba, it would be the easiest slam dunk ever.

The fog one model adidas basketball shoes all sold out with exception to the latest release ( clay) . How is that a flop?
@SouthJerseyBaitReviews
@SouthJerseyBaitReviews 24 күн бұрын
Because to these people if the shoes aren't reselling for $500+ the shoe is a flop or if the release didn't have enough hype it's a flop. Whereas something like Cpfm Af1s get labeled as sneaker of the year just because thousands of people hit and also resell price keeps going up. The adidas Fog 1s where pretty easy to get even though I took L on PE pairs. I really wouldn't take anything these guys say with a grain of salt. They flip flop so much that they basically contradict themselves constantly. Which comes off fake as shit.

My thing is, I think he’s trying to keep his audience to trust him and that there’s still that Nike fear of God within Adidas and with that lineup that he is done was uniform to division. He was trying to execute for that which is familiarity I think for these next shoes if he does shoes with Adidas Might change the flow, especially looking at the lack of success compared to Nike. It’s also worth mentioning he’s mentioned in previous interviews that he’s tried to bring luxury to Adidas. He wasn’t trying to do that with Nike. So that can also explain why it flopped the way it did .He was mainly focusing on shape and performance. So, when you have two completely different ideas with this similarity in concept (shoe) doesn’t fully suit it.

The sneakers I mess with hype or no hype. The La Runners, Basketball 1's, 86 high's and lo's The clothes tho, not so much. Some of them look cool, but not for those prices man. Regardless, I do believe in the outlook of it's not a sprint, it's a marathon and if he makes good on that promise to lower prices? That's even better.

I think if they did a leather and or suede with a low top form i would be interested but as of now i dont think he is learning from it. Jerry wont change he will double down. The next release will be super limited and the fact no one will have them will make them hype again. right now people are eating for free and mad cuz the resell aint there. if this shoe was limited it would be $1000 plus i just think hype is dead cuz shoes are down once it comes back youll see everyone flip over these flops

Nike Fear of God had the aesthetic of early 90s basketball nostalgia mixed with mainline FoG. From the draping warmup shirts, to the Air Fear of God matching the Flight font, and the visible air unit, you can see the inspiration Adidas FoG doesn’t capture any essence. It’s a rehash of Nike’s campaign If I were to go that direction, I’d put my inspiration late 90s-early 2000s with the Kobe Toaster or T-Macs (since Adidas released the SVSM pair fairly recently) with the spin or variance that “the future starts now” or “begins again” or “reborn” to mark that Adidas is back while using a campaign with both Anthony Edwards and Harden mixing the current and next generation Richie’s right. The brand shouldn’t mark down their price. They should release projects that are worth that value that can represent the current direction of where Adidas would like to go. Not creating a release that sees very subtle differences after 4 years of development

I really don’t understand these types of narratives where did something flop because of how it sold or what others think? I Love everything I copped because it fits my personal style aesthetic and I can’t imagine basing my clothing purchases on what others think. To me the authenticity of his designs are timeless because if you were them like it’s intended you’d have a better sense of the vibe of brand and his work. A lot you guys tbh are on the shorter side who all want to always size down. As a stylist you have to make choices based on what looks good on you. Everything isn’t for everybody and now that the sneaker culture is going through a change with “resell” down I feel a lot of ppl are lost as to what to wear when you can’t just base it on Hype. I still like Fear of God and will continue to support even if I’m in the minority. Took a lot of conviction to start and maintain a brand. I’d like to see those who have so much to say do better! Yall take his style and use it for your smaller brands trying to capture the similar wave.

I know Indiana is a adidas school but it was the wrong school to do it for. That school has a lot of basketball history and their fan base migrates more to the classic aesthetic. Should’ve done it for ASU cause their football program is trying to be the Oregon ducks of adidas. I think that collab would’ve been more accepted there and honestly he could put his earth tone spin on it and it would’ve worked. Btw I don’t mess with adidas. Strictly checks over stripes

Hot take but it’s regarded as a flop because the resell value isn’t there and that’s what really matters to folks whether they admit or not *cough* Richie **cough cough** Tan. Jonny has points in that the whole designer switches from Nike To Adidas = Fall Off aka SW. The shoe isn’t hot because the resell is not there, the “IT” factor is missing. I think there’s still time for Jerry to catch fire at adidas with the upcoming releases but it won’t recapture the magic his Nike collab made. But overall if you have been following the brand from inception and know his vision everything still makes sense and is nothing new. Jerry will not make this groundbreaking pivot from his path if that’s what you’re clamoring for, that’s not what fear of god is about.

I see both sides tho Jerry is a genius and can easily bounce back with a better model, but a lot of what he did at Nike besides the air FG1 was a flop too. Jerry’s entire adidas line flopping is kinda giving 1 hit wonder vibes as far as footwear goes :/

1. FOG Basketball 1 is fire. It’s a minimalist design that goes with the FOG\Essentials aesthetic. 2. Hating on Jerry Lorenzo while copying his entire aesthetic for the RL Collection is nasty work. 3. The genius of Jerry Lorenzo is that he pushed pieces that will never go out of style. Sweatpants, hoodies, and most of his other pieces are based on 80s/90s aesthetics that will never go out of style and always have an audience. Get off the hype train and be confident in yourself.
