This is the Djentstick, one stringed fretless low tune instrument i've made myself featuring an active EMG81 pickup thru a Line 6 Pod XT.
All the audio was recorded only using the Djentstick!
Believe it or not!
Enjoy!

This is how Djent began. a peasant living in Italy in 1773 tied a piece of his withering rags to the broomstick that he used to sweep the doorways for $0.005 (CA) a day. His name was Djentiovani Lowtunegaffi

This video can be interpreted as a show of the following: 1. Wood doesn't really affect your tone if you have the right equipment. and/or 2. After the Burial's new album has terrible production value. XD

EMG literally doesn't take the tone of the wood... Worst mics ever.
@mikevmpr3
@mikevmpr3 10 жыл бұрын
Nelson Millán There is no true mic on this, just prerecorded Cab Impulse Responses. And quite frankly i dont see how the wood could affect tone anywho, why do i say that? Because science states that magnets (alnico 5 in emgs) can attract metal , iron, nickel or cobalt. And a pickup is simply a device that transfers vibrations from the metal strings into an electrical current. EDIT: i hope youre not calling emgs mics btw. xD
@dreadkyng
@dreadkyng 10 жыл бұрын
mikevmpr3 Indeed, but the strings does get in relation with the wood (through the nut, frets and the bridge), they will resonate differently from a certain wood to another. And that resonation difference would then be perceived by the pickups magnets. EMGs are different mostly because of the onboard preamp, it doesn't catch all subtilities and gives a flatter/more constant sound to the amp. Its a good and a bad thing, depending on what you are looking for. I'm speaking from my personnal playing experience through my various electric guitars.

Treue0 I agree, there's a common misconception going around music that something has to be complex to be good.

I don't get why people don't think this would work. The bridge (that is ever-so-elegantly made of Legos) holds the string slightly above the pickup, and it would still work if the string is making contact with the pickup because it isn't magnetic on the surface. The string vibrates on or over the pickup, it picks up the vibrations, turns it into sound. It works.

Oh, I didn't realize this was a debate on the album itself, the band is a great band, the album was a new taste they wanted to try, it sound's awesome, they added the Djent sound to the already awesome guitar solo's. I mean if you got something better let me hear it, alway's down to broaden the horizon. But rule #1 No whiny emo lull me to crybabyville vocals.

I can see that writing a song for the djentstick would be a challenge, because of the lack of freedom you have with the string. Have you tried writing any music for the stick?
