I've been listening to After the Burial for a while now, never knowing anything about the band members - until somewhat recently. I say this because for me, It feels weird watching a lot of these nine year old videos for the first time. Having this feeling of "being late to the show"...digging up the past, kinda. Dude, Andrew, that cover for Aspiration is awesome! So cool that you guys did that. You and Justin are a huge motivation / inspiration for my 8 string guitar playing. After the Burial is awesome! Carcosa is fucking epic! Super stoked to see you guys jam in Seattle this summer! XD Please keep up the great work!

***** The sad thing about paranoid schizophrenia is that it can lie dormant inside your genetics for years then suddenly hit you when you get to a certain age. He may have been going through problems for a while, who knows, but they definitely got worse towards the end.
@liamyates55449 жыл бұрын
+m2350 Regardless of any of mental health problems he may have had, he was an amazing guitarist/ musician. Lets all remember him that way. He was truley an inspiration. To the people that listened to his music, to his friends and to his own band. *sigh* All who have met him, or even seen him in the flesh know that this is a deep wound that will take a long time to heal. But at the same time, it brings us all together as a metal community. Thank you for all the kind words/ intentions towards Justin.

@justinferreira2571 Жыл бұрын
@moto toad if you actually knew the truth you wouldn't be saying this. Although I wasn't close with Justin I was friends with Nick (the original singer) and knew a few of the other guys. I use to live in Kansas and helped them get a few shows in the early days... Justin was suffering from pretty severe depression mixed with schizophrenia. He thought his own band mates, family and friends were out to get him, thought people were trying to frame him for inappropriate crimes (I'd rather not say on here)... TLDR: He was not well and everyone knew this and tried to help him. But sadly sometimes it's not enough. RIP Justin🙏

If you read his exit note he wrote when he left less then a month ago with the fact in mind that he passed so soon afterwards it makes me wonder what really happened. He specifically said that he was putting himself in danger by saying some of the things he did, and he also stated that "he's being set up by forces greater then law enforcement". Regardless of what really happened Justin was an amazing guitarist and a great guy. He helped shape a new wave of metal and the best we can do is honor is memory and let his legacy live on

Ive never cried for someone who i never really knew passing away. After the breakdown he had a week or 2 ago, i was hoping everything would be ok, and it was just abit of a lapse for him. Then i heard he was missing. His sister found his car. Police were searching for a few days. I knew what had happened deep inside me, but i didnt want to admit it. I saw the news 4 hours ago... i sat there for half an hour, just looking at one picture of him, crying. Its hard to take in. Still feels completely surreal. Im happy i got to see him before he passed, he played the intro to beserker behind his head. Ha, amazing. I just wish i could've been there for him. I will truly miss the guy. R.I.P Justin Lowe. If only you knew how many people were willing to help you, how many people you've helped through your music and relaxed personallity. Maybe things wouldve been different.

I had the exact same experience when that happened years ago. Still makes me tear up. Part of my connection to him although never meeting him was inspiring me to get an 8 string. I heard them back on myspace in 2006. I saw them in 2008 and they had 8 strings and were so loud. I loved it, that change my life. I just got my nine string and brought me back here. Exactly like he said, not my main guitar now, but such an awesome tool to get some unique sounds. RIP Justin.

With the recent resurgence of some older metalcore bands I've been jamming to a lot of stuff I listened to while in college and directly afterwords. I think the saying "You don't know what you have until it's gone" is really hitting home with me in this video. Justin truly pushed the boundaries of what people were doing with guitars at the time and paved the way for lower tuning that has given us some really incredible music. The metal scene wouldn't be what it is now without Justin's genius - and for that I appreciate his contributions and incredible playing ability.

I'll just be honest. I've been listening to ATB since at least 2006. I'm from MN, and ATB was a huge influence on my writing and style. This video fucks me up every time I watch it. I don't really like their new stuff. I never really knew Justin (more than just to say hi at their show), yet through his writing I felt that I did know him. I miss his influence a lot. I can only imagine what it's like for the people that knew him personally, like Trent, Dan, Lee. and Anthony. I applaud them for moving forward. RIP Justin Lowe 1982-2015.

if any band right now is going to make proper use of the 9 string it is after the burial. I still think its too many but if they can make it work ill listen in.

Lucek Yeah, from what I know they got some 9s from Ibby. There is a pic or two of them holding the new 9 strings in some German magazine.

Use to study guitar at Berklee. After losing people, almost myself, and you it changed me. Left music for Neuroscience. Tears me up to see this video. One of the people I will fight the neurobiology of mental illness for is you. RIP brother.

It's 2018 and this is still the best 9-string guitar tone I've ever heard.

Every time I'm with my buddy listening to music in his car on our way to the gym and Neo Seoul comes on I instinctively yell RIP Justin Lowe out the window. My buddy also hit his first 500lbs deadlift to the drop at the beginning of the song after recovering from a major illness. Justin may be gone but his spirit will live on forever.
