I thought Pinkie and Maud were the funniest TOGETHER, seeing bubbly, hyper Pinkie gush over understated and monotone Maud was really hilarious to me. Just imagining these two growing up together...I'd love to see some flashbacks of that. Oh and after seeing her lack of reaction through the whole episode, that one little smile at the end while she says "I don't really like candy, but I do love Pinkie Pie." Was SOOOOO satisfying to me.

@ Silver Quill - Shining Armor's introduction was not a plot hole. It was clearly explained we hadn't seen him prior to the Season 2 finale, and Twilight really had no reason to mention him before then. @ Ink Rose - Spike did end up receiving a lot more screen time in the later episodes of the season, which did go toward further developing his character. Otherwise, this was a very well put together review. As a side note, I doubt Rarity actually enjoyed wearing that rock hat. She was only doing it because she knew that Maud grew up on a rock farm, and wanted her to feel at home.

I have to disagree regarding Shining armor. All we're told is that he Captain of the Guard and that he and Twilight had spoken less after she moved. We're never told why he hasn't been present at any of the crisis or special events before the season 2 finale. Heck, he saw Twilight off to Ponyville and she never said, "Keep close to Celestia, she's in danger?" If he'd been away on a mission, that I could understand. As it is, I find his introduction generated far too many questions.

MLP-Silver-Quill Perhaps, but they're questions which we can still answer on our own if we just think about it for a moment. If a question on a plot element can be given a reasonable explanation, it doesn't technically count as a plot hole. On a side note, have you noticed that Shining has never visited Ponyville? Every time we've seen him he's either been at the Crystal Empire with Cadance or acting as a member of the royal guard. As for his absence in times of crisis, they've either occurred in Ponyville, where he would have no way of knowing about them because Celestia wasn't involved, or in a place where he knew full well about them and did get involved.

I think this would be a good subject for a video. I find that encourages a lot more discussion. I do believe that we could rationalize sections where it felt like Shining Armor could/should have been present, yet the need itself triggers some warnings for me. It feels like the writers didn't put a lot of focus into integrating Shining Armor with the world, and even now he feels like a jigsaw piece that doesn't fully fit. Now, the Shining Armor in the IDW comics, that is a whole other story!

With not only Rose's childish personality but they also put the voice in the because half the time Rose was the type that just had to argue to get her way or was that Donna. The thing that hit me was when she had to leave The Doctor behind she was like no I will go and find my true love. So that is why she sounds and acts like that.

Just found your channel and have to say its great to find someone who is so well thought provoking and looks at the series with a great eye for detail and character insight. For the episode have to say while one my favorite it is VERY well done and as you and Ink stated a great character piece. Pinky in season 4 was a bit over blown for my tastes (Frosting.....really?) but seeing maud really helps do a good contrast. In a family that seems to be based after the Amish it makes sense that pinky is so overblown. For me it really helps pinky grow and become a bit of a deeper character.

I don't like spike because he's extremely underutilized and poorly characterized, but I recognize this is a self-perpetuating problem, we need more spike for spike to grow, and in that, shouldn't spike have grown a -little- bit over the last three seasons? Jordan Edwards You're not alone. She just really rubbed me the wrong way here. I think it was her expressions and tone at certain points, combined with failing to substantiate extreme hostility towards a character. Most people seem to like her, but I'm not really interested after this video. I'm more interested in reviewers with measured responses, or who are funny to me.
