But seriously though, this seems to be less a continuity issue and more an indication that ponies have a long lifespan, which is already implied by the fact that the Mane 6 have been in Ponyville for at least 3 years at this point and nobody, even the little fillies, seems to have aged at all. Ponies are creatures of magic so it makes sense they would live for 400-500 years like fantasy elves or something. Must be hell on their pension system, though...

I found this episode painful to watch. I always hate watching characters I like make fools of themselves. Though this doesn't earn a spot on my hated episodes list because it was believable. It wasn't the writers making a fool of Rarity, it was Rarity making a fool of herself.

The fact that it *wasn't* just wrote out as another "girl show" specifically, but rather an actually overall well written show under a guise of the sort but not restricted purely because of it. as for "ships", (why is it even called that) I like the "rules" that another youtuber posted somewhere and wish I had copied down... But basically where it is an insult to or goes against the characters that it isn't quite right to 'push ships.' You can have your own ideas of what you think is cute but you don't get to usserp the characters out of who they are forcing ideas upon them as their expense as characters and on everyone else either against what they feel or believe. At some level there does need to be recognition or acceptence that esp with some ships more than others canonically they don't can't or wouldn't work, (and in some strong ways shouldn't?) *If it goes against their beliefs or sexual preferences, and if they genuienly do not like or in full fact hate eachother, not to forget to a degree where not even part of the same world though crossovers can be done. Like with the mane6 with eachother, and to a point a lot of "Octi-scratch" works; they often feel forced especially when rushed, that they JUST so happen all out of nowhere see eachother or meet and SUDDENLY fall in love when its not even their thing? (you could work _Towards_ an idea or resolution, but forcing it feels forced) The biggest question also though with it, *"How do they feel or fit as Individuals and not simply just as Foils?"* (and that is where a lot of the overspammed and repeated "octiscratch" fic falls apart, esp when its Vinyl who sees Ocavia first.) I can see them as close friends, but the sexual partners thing gets worn very thin. *The question of shipping is not making the 'ship' the "thing" in itself but to ask what would lead to it or "why" it would be if even ever was able to be, and how so as leading from a believeable start for the characters, Less very clearly an AU yet still. "Ship what you want" but be ready & remembered that people have the right to deny or disagree with those ships ESPECIALLY when it doesn't work or if it envovles themselves. *homosexual pairings for a straight guy /is not that way is something he would have a strong right to call 'fowl' on.* lol You can like what you want purely from your end but that doesn't make it right, esp depending on how far you push it or how. (perhaps can do "friendshipping" all you want?, but such that you leave sex out of it) That said, nice way to play it up and not right away call hate even if suggesting calling foul/fowl.

My headcanon on the whole granny smith at the founding hundreds of years ago is this: The magic that is all over equestia gives ponies VERY long life spans. And the princesses don't seem to have aged because they're powerful alicorns, so even more magic is drawn to them so that they're pretty much ageless.

5 years later and I’m still hooked on these! Also, this episode did hit pretty close to home for me. I’m Samoan and was raised on the big island for nearly 17 years, and tourism is a big thing here (obviously) and it takes up a lot of my patience to not get at least slightly irked at the stereotypical merchandise and cultural appropriation that I see every time I go out into town. So when I saw this episode where Rarity was attempting to imitate Applejack while being quite (while unintentionally) disrespectful and borderline insulting towards her, I really sympathized with AJ on this one.

This being the first video of yours that I viewed, the quasi-scary faceless mannequin suit wearing pony at the end totally flew over my head (maybe you can explain that reference to me), but I really loved this episode though I have to wonder why Rarity seems to be the only pony who thinks about or wants to be in love (I mean, isn't that a basic animal instinct).
