"The response to this is going to be bad" is something Hamas were counting on, both the initial reaction by our so called "liberal left" and the ongoing reaction to the inevitable civilian casualties that Hama forces deliberately embedded in civilian areas would cause. I'm old enough to have followed this from '67 as a teen wargamer marking up the map through the disillusionment of the Sharon invasion of the Lebanon camps and never wavered in the support of Israel though increasingly critical of some of its governments and increasingly annoyed by criticism of government being equated with some sort of antisemitic position and equally support of Israel condemning you as against Islam. I'm afraid that in the West it has become doctrine firstly to hate our National pasts and then extend that to hate collective Western Civilisation - of which Israel is now the sole representative in The Middle East. The irony is that to hold these positions can only happen in our enlightenment Western Civilisation. Try doing something similar in The Middle East where I have worked for many years.
