You are becoming the Bob Ross of the green world! I love to close my office door, dim the lights and eat lunch as I watch your videos. They are so calming and comforting--like poetry in motion. As a highly sensitive someone with anxiety and a burnout, your videos are one of the few things that truly calms me. They make me connect back with nature (there is not a lot of wild nature where I live), and connect back to myself. They always make me want to create again, to make a pot of tea and sew while watching, and go outside in the middle of the night for a walk to feel the cold November air on my face. I'm glad you made it safe through these storms, and truly thank you for sharing these incredible beautiful videos with us, you're very skilled in filming and editing. Hope you have a wonderful week.

Glad you're safe now, Annie! And you should be proud of yourself; it's not easy getting together all those preparations. For us at the opposite corner of the continental country, Halloween signals the end of hurricane season. Some cities even have giant festivals. Down here after we all prepare and make sure our neighbors are good, we have a couple traditions: One is, we write mean messages to the hurricane - like "Get Lost, Irene!" and such. Some more colorful than others. Also, it means all the tourists have left and it's more or less a free-for-all for the locals and the parties are everywhere to use up the perishables. Everyone is in great spirits and always ready to help. A generosity of soul prevails with even the grouchiest curmudgeons. The few shops that stay open til the last minute drop their prices in solidarity (and to salvage their own perishables) so that locals that are still busy helping board up/flood proof their places of work (or the houses of unable neighbors) can still get some supplies when they're finally free to turn towards their own home. Our radio hosts stay on until the very last minute, sheltering in their stations, just to keep everyone updated until the cities cut the power for safety reasons. And like Christmas elsewhere, we all make sure that none of us are sheltering alone, because no one should be alone during a hurricane. Once the storm starts we hide in our homes with candles everywhere, a battery-powered radio, our favorite comforts (and most valued possessions) and someone we care for. It's scary at times, but it's also exhilarating, and the bonds with our loved ones can only get tighter. However it's also a giant pain in the ass and it can go terribly, terribly wrong. If it's higher than a Cat 3 we all have to evacuate and it's an entirely different matter. These are not happy times, as it involves frantically packing, trying to beat or fight traffic, and calling ahead to find a place to land. It is during these times that those who are truly brave stay behind to look after those that for whatever reason, can't leave. But by Halloween, we are just so relieved we got through another season and we can settle in to the far easier winter season. So when you breathe a sigh of relief, believe me when I say there are many of us breathing with you.

We use a hairpin to take the seeds out. One can just clean and boil until soft without taking the seeds out and then press them through a sieve or something and use the pure fresh or deep freeze it. One can also dry them as they are and then soak in water and cook to make tea etc.

what wild timing- i just got my power back after losing it over a week ago after an unexpected nor'easter-turned-bomb-cyclone hit my little area of massachusetts. i live on the water as well and had six different trees fall on my little house and was without heat and electricity in 30° weather for over a week. today is finally sunny. it's been an intense, expensive, and quite honestly, traumatizing week. i dont know if i'll ever be able to forget the sound of the wind and the constant cracking and crashing of trees. it's crazy how you can be in a completely different part of the country/world and be experiencing such similar things. i'm glad you were able to have time to prepare and that your area is finding normalcy again, and i hope you west coasters can have some sunny days to recuperate before it gets too chilly! sending hugs from the east 🤍

I never really understood why until I reached my 30s. I picked some rose hips removed the seeds because I and going to do my best to grow some just to see if I can, I didnt realize its the husks, I think they are called) that are used I through out all my husks , I think I will go around my building today and see if there are any more

So much love for you and what you have been able to create in your life, and what you so beatifully share with the world, Annie. I really enjoy your videos a lot, thank you :) I was just thinking, about the rose hips - have you tried one of those hand cranked food mills? I have one I use mostly for home made tomato sauce, but this year I tried it for making rose hip jam (or rose hip butter) and it was so easy. I just cooked the rose hips whole in some water after I cut off the stems and remnants of the flowers, but did not take out the seeds. And then I just passed them through the food mill and ended up with this beautiful rose hip puré with no seeds in it at all. Also, the process is still quiet and a little repetitive, and with lots of "stirring" or hand cranking, for some room for intent and witchiness. :) You may prefer the slow process of deseeding of course, but after I saw you mentioned it in another video that rose hips were some of the hardest plants to work with, I thought I would just put it out there. :)
