Wow, this is heartbreaking. But great to see how they turned this around. I had the opportunity to interview a local Firefighter/Paramedic on my KZbin channel. I have a renewed appreciation for all you do. Thank you for your dedication and selflessness!

I remember when this happened. I am from Houston and was in SA attending the annual emergency management conference. It was my last night staying downtown that I heard tons of fire apparatus responding to this fire but had no idea what was burning. It was latter that night that I started hearing of the tragic outcome I remember the next day at the close of the conference there being such a heaviness in the air. Very sad!

It’s so sad because they just lost another firefighter yesterday. My heart goes out to both families.

Belated condolences to the young firefighters family This is an inspirational update and I am sure increas3s safety for these brave men. I can't help but notice that it seems l8ke 90% of firefighters have reqlly great mustaches. I first noticed this in first responders at 9/11. I really like them. I wonder if they are a cultural statement or if they filter smoke. Keep going smoke eaters and stay strong and well.

0:06 This isn't brain surgery people. WATER! Not Bullshit Heroism! Eliminate the threat to civilians and entering firefighters with TANK WATER! Look at all those Moths staring at the flames. New training? I don't think so!

Read the state Fire Marshall’s report. SAFD didn’t put any water on the fire until approximately 10 minutes after flashover. Dumbest fucking thing ever, this is why people make fun of American fire departments for being “scared of water” because they are. They effectively murdered their own guy. Instead of preventing flashover by using this mythical thing called water, they simply placed more fans in front of the building. A ladder company who arrived at the rear of the building had a clear shot at the flames and was told “no” to putting water on it. After placing a couple fans at the entrance (which were pointless because they moved almost no air compared to the natural draft of the fire), they walked into a near zero visibility heavy commercial fire with obviously no survival space for a “search and rescue” with a 1 3/4” line, then started poking at the ceiling with sticks, surprise, everything fell on them and they were trapped. Not heroic, just stupid.
