My late grandmother always had hibiscus flowers among other flowers . I remember her always giving a neighbor the flowers who suffered with high blood pressure to make tea.

My grandmother would allow the petals to dry before boiling it and used honey to lightly sweeten we loved it as kids🙂

I think doing it without the cinnamon leaves and drying the petals would enhance the flavor of the hibiscus. It has a subtle but swedish taste different from sorrel though they are related.

I grew up with the same Hibiscus in Florida. I used take out the little piece under the bloom and put it on my nose like Pinocchio🤣🤣🤣memories. I never had it for tea though

Hibiscus and Sorrel is different. I heard that they are from the same family of plants. I know that the Hibiscus flower and leaves are used as a hair treatment. The leaves gets a bit slimy when it's boiled. It's supposed to be good for hair growth.

I had it in Ethiopia Africa! It has a totally different taste then Sorel! I make and drink Sorel and I like it much better than the hibiscus! It has a strong taste! I think you should have used more flowers! Because that that I had in Africa was very strong!
