Life saver. Or should I say battery saver. Currently have it ran 2 switch in my 04' Passat GL Wagon with 1.8T 5-Speed Manual Sleeper. As it is non-monsoon I'm currently installing a Orion XTR 750.4 and doing a Big 3 with extra battery in back but I wanted 2 find another way to have the deck run where i don't have 2 reprogram it as the aftermarket deck has an off/on switch as well but even when off it drains the battery (hense the switch). Watched ur other vid some time ago but was trying 2 get it done in hurry. Now having time watching this one should save me a lot of grief.

Love the videos dude. I’m going to start going through these repairs and upgrades soon - the water leak with the foam seal for the pollen filter, and clean the drain under battery, etc.. I just bought a 03 1.8T at an auction for 1800 bucks, it needs some TLC, and your channel is a great kickstart to that. I was even happy to see the new fused power supply line, to the harness power being twisted together clockwise, so that the wire nut can thread on, get a good bite, and only twist them together more as it goes on. 🤟🏻👌🏻

That's a good buy, the 1.8T are good motor's. Once you do the maintenance things, you should be good to go. Thanks for watching!

@@CraftyWorkshopBuilds thanks man, great channel! So no prob!! But, another question for ya man, have you ever had issues with interior lighting in one of these? I recently changed the bulbs in the drivers side brake light, and up until then my interior lights would work when opening a door or turning one on, same as the glove box trunk and visor lights all worked fine. But I got in last night and couldn’t see anything, tried switching them on, and nothing. I checked the fuses and each had continuity, I’m seeing something about a door switch, and pulling the module out from under the carpet and checking wires on there for being loose or corroded, but that’s usually a suggestion when windows or power locks accompany the interior light problem.. I changed the brake lights Friday morning, and Saturday night is when I noticed interior lights unresponsive.

I have the same issue, but the radio turns off when the passenger side door is open. It looks to be an issue with the microswitch in the driver side door latch assembly. My dome light doesn't go on either when I open the driver side door, but it does with the passenger side. This is a nice work around to get it working.

Very helpful video - tks! The radio wire harness for the original 1-DIN radio on my B5.5, has 2 terminals, one identified as (UB+), and another as (+). 3 questions, as I am in the process of buying a 2-DIN headset: 1- do you know what those 2 terminal signs stand for?; 2- on both terminals I always read 12V, whether I turn the ignition key on, or have the key removed. I was expecting to find one constant power terminal, and one switched power terminal. They both seem to be constant power terminals. On the other hand, when I remove the key, the radio turns off automatically. Do you know what is happening?; 3- didn't you get a switched power terminal on your car's harness, and so this was the reason for this video?
@CraftyWorkshopBuilds4 жыл бұрын
I'm not too sure about your first question, but you can see the link in the description on the harness that I used. Yes, getting 12v from both harness is normal. The factory radio harness in these cars, are a bit different than traditional car radio harness. Yes, that's why I made this video, most other cars would have a constant 12v and a remote 12v on the harness.

Any chance you could tell me the kind of Fuse you used for this?
@johanlorentzon49634 жыл бұрын
It's a 20A blade fuse. You need a blade fuse holder for it to work. There are also micro blade fuses, that work in the same way but just smaller.

Cool, getting your radio to automatically turn off. As for your windows not working and door, I'd suggest checking the fuses and make sure they are all good. If that's not the issue, check your work under the dash to make sure everything looks fine.

The blue remote wire might be for an external amp.

If it’s a pioneer you have 3 wires. Yellow is constant power (batt +), black is ground, and the red wire is ignition (switched). You want the red. Should actually be stamped on the wire

I saw the diagram of the iso harness and I connected the 75x to the ignition switch terminal of the stereo I really don’t seem any problem. Could you give some advice ? Ty
@BigSteve_Gaming1872 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing you didn't do what you ALWAYS do when doing anything electrical ANYWHERE and that is remove the terminals off the battery. Also as your dealing with Relays its best to wait a few minutes or turn the key if ur In a hurry to drain whatever remaining charge is left in the circuitry. Shorting any wires is also a possibility. Also, it's best to hold off putting the fuse in till the wiring is completed. Radios often store energy as it holds the memory of your settings if you had it running any other way prior. Just trying to cover all possible scenarios in which that logically can happen.

You should be able to use this similar method to fix that issue on the MK5, but I'm note sure if that panel is the same, you might want to use a volt meter to double check before you tap from anything on the panel.

It turns off when you switch the key, not on the "click" when you remove the key. So radio only stays on when engine is on. Any idea on how to tap in to the key removal "click" on the ignition, so the radio stays on when turning engine off, but goes off on key removal, like on a normal vw?
@CraftyWorkshopBuilds4 жыл бұрын
After you turn the engine off the radio will turn off. After you shut off the engine turn the key one click towards the accessory position, without starting the engine and the radio will turn back on without the engine running. I have no idea as to how to make the radio remain on immediately after you shut off the engine.
@Kadafi16024 жыл бұрын
@@CraftyWorkshopBuilds I thought so in theory. It's just that theres no fuse in the fuse box that stays lit after turning off the engine. So right now my radio goes off together with the engine. I'd rather not mess around with the ignition wiring, unless there's a clear diagram. Any ideas?
