Jiro pronounced (Hero) What a Man. Saves his Family, but the Tsunami was so quick, it still gets them. Saves himself, hears his daughter ,jumps in saves her. Then they find his wife and son alive clinging to debris. This family was meant to live. Incredible! Fisherman are tough people no matter which country they live.

It was a metaphor. No one in Hawaii "wonders why" they have lava. Anywhere you live, any way you choose to live, involves risk. People smoke, drink, eat crappy food, avoid medical care, etc., then wonder why someone would live near a volcano that erupts every few 100 or 1,000 years. LoL.

@ 2:59:00 - The New Madrid quakes of 1811/1812 were the cause of many strange phenomena of which some have never been explained. One being the “Thunderbird”! That winter was the very first of sightings, which still occur today whenever the New Madrid fault is rocked. I was born and raised in East Central Illinois, along the Indiana state line, and currently live in Indiana, just across the state line where I used to live. The New Madrid trimmers & quakes are almost always felt even further north than where I am. And in a 1989 quake, we experienced a ground ripple, and watched the stucco facade crumble & fall off the exterior of a 2 story apartment building. All of this paragraph just to say that I know all about the New Madrid fault line along southern Illinois/East Missouri. Back to the 1811/12 quakes, along with the appearance of the Thunderbird, one of the quakes even caused the Mississippi River to flow in reverse for several days & created several lakes along the the way. As for the Thunderbird, locals don’t know where the quakes cause it’s appearance, or it’s appearance causes the quakes.

Wow Murphysboro is only 19 miles away from me, so is Benton, IL. My friend and I were sitting in his mobile home in Marion, IL. when we received a warning from a state police officer on his loudspeaker , that a tornado was moving towards the trailer park & expected to be there in under 5 minutes. It was a F-0. My friend & I jumped into my car then drove down to the main road 1/8th of a mile away. We were looking around for the tornado but couldn't see it. All of a sudden, it started raining real hard. It made it impossible to see anything. After about 1 minute we got out of the car to try to pinpoint the where the tornado was? We wanted to know which way to drive to get away from it. Both the rain & wind had stopped at this time. We were looking around and around then, I looked straight up above us & said " oh my God!" My friend turned to me & joined me looking straight up. We were looking up the very center of the tornado. The bottom of the tornado was just a little higher than the telephone poles. The opening at the bottom of it was as wide as the four-lane highway with a turn lane in the center. You could hear the high-speed whistling & whipping around in the sky. What amazed both of us the most was, ...we could see all the way up through the center of the tornado into space. The very center Inside the Tornado at the top of the clouds was blackened out just like is was night time. The tornado went over us in about 10-15 seconds. The clouds then turned all different colors. Beautiful colors like of a rainbow. I thank God we did not get sucked up inside of it! This Tornado did eventually touch back down a few times as it flew over the town. I believe the worst it did was destroy an old barn.

Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment?"

Idk how you can make a documentary on tornadoes without including the 2013 El Reno tornado. It wasn't the most deadly, but it was by far the largest tornado ever recorded on Earth, and possibly had the fastest wind speeds ever recorded on Earth. At it's peak it was 2.6 miles(4.1km) wide, with maximum wind speeds estimated to be 336mph(540kph). It only killed 8 people because it occurred in mostly rural farmland, but if a tornado that big and fast were to hit a major city it would kill tens of thousands of people.

Most of these documentaries rarely mention Mauna Loa volcano... Kilauea always gets the best press. I get it, Kilauea is just more sexy, more active, doing all the hard work. While Mauna Loa is very, very... none of that. However, it's probably the most dangerous volcano on the big island. When it goes, it will only take somewhere between 15 to 30 minutes for its lava to reach the sea... and almost no one will be able to get out of the way (especially if it explodes during the night). Mauna Loa is the biggest mountain on the surface of the entire earth, it consists of approximately 18,000 cubic miles of material. For a comparison, Mt Rainier consists of only 0.69 cubic miles of material. You could literally fit more than 26,000 Mt Rainiers inside of Mauna Loa. Anything that has ejected that much material over its entire existence... isn't exactly safe.

Thirty years ago, a friend of mine got into the green energy business and tried to pull me into it. I asked him what for, it isn’t serious. He said, “You have no idea how much money is being poured into it. Everyone wants in on it, politicians, financiers, businesspeople, the lot.” He was right, of course. Yet, no one wants to promote green energy in order to save the planet, but only to swell up their pockets even more. The declarations, therefore, remain in the assembly hall where they are stated, necessary actions are ignored, and the climate waits for no one: It will keep deteriorating. This week in Glasgow, Scotland, the 26th UN Climate Change Conference is taking place. Officially, it aims to “bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.” In reality, the countries plan to do the exact opposite. This year’s UN Production Gap Report, which tracks the discrepancy between governments’ planned fossil fuel production and actual global production levels, states the following: “Despite increased climate ambitions and net-zero commitments, governments still plan to produce more than double the amount of fossil fuels in 2030 than what would be consistent with limiting global warming to 1.5°C [2.7°F].” Energy sources and technologies do change, but not according to what is best for the planet. It changes according to the interests of politicians and money moguls, and it never benefits the planet or the majority of its inhabitants, namely all of us. Since the climate waits for no one, eventually, it will catch up with us. Earth is a closed system, and in a closed system, there are consequences to exploitation: it hurts the abuser as well as the abused. I don’t know when or at what cost, but eventually, we will all have to realize that we cannot take beyond what we need. We cannot keep exploiting Earth selfishly and thoughtlessly because it will turn against us. Earth is like a submarine: there is only so much oxygen on board. If some crew members take more than their quota, the rest will not have enough, they will die, and the submarine will sink along with those who exceeded their quota. We need constant reminders that we are one system, and we are all dependent on each other. We need to genuinely grasp that selfishness hurts us just as being exploitative hurts others. If we constantly remind ourselves that we are interdependent, we will behave with more consideration, and we will avoid the punitive impact of climate change. The other option is to keep working as the UN’s Production Gap Report states that we are planning to work, and suffer nature’s unforgiving response. I hope we wise up in time because everyone will pay the price for this mistake.

When humans can use geo-synchronous satellites, like Star-link system, and install innovative technologies to observe and monitor atmospheric fluctuations, tsunamis and crustal movements from above, respectively, it will certainly improve and enrich the periodic changes of all relevant databases. As such, it enhances preparedness and alerts for natural catastrophes and therefore reduces the casualties involves.

Would it be accurate to say that an uplift in deeper water would create bigger tsunamis? The energy of these earthquakes, to move such huge masses, is so incredibly mind blowing! Living in a country that doesn’t get anything more than a 2 (in our state) up to a possible 5, maybe? It’s so incredible to imagine. I should go to Japan for an experience.
