The first movie came into theaters on my birthday. I begged my mom to go see it, and so we did. My mom ended up buying the movie for me. And what did I do? Filled up 3 tiny notebooks with all dragon types and their abilities, and I colored a drawing of toothless, using 3 black markers in full to do so. It spoke to me. I was a weird kid, and so was hiccup. I've been religiously keeping up with httyd ever since. I'm 19 now, and sometimes, I still catch myself looking in the sky and imagining toothless and hiccup swirling over clouds. I hear the thunder and think of the dragons that could cause it. This movie is and will be apart of me forever. Once a viking, always a viking. Once a dragon rider, always a dragon rider. This goes out to my fellow Berkians: don't forget the dragons. They're waiting.

I still want to go to their universe, lol. It was my safe space to go to as a kid, even if it wasn't real. To lay down with my eyes closed and pretend I was there while heck was breaking loose in my home, it didn't have to be real, it was real to me. Hiccup and Toothless seriously got me through some stuff, animated or not. I had another pushed to the side, dorky, creative, out casted teenager to relate to who was a lot like me, and writing fanfiction taught me how to write via the people who commented on my stories and taught me how to write when my mother didn't have me in school and was too sick to actually educate me. I had to teach my siblings who were younger, and httyd and fanfiction taught me, helped me grow. Great, now I'm 22 years old and gonna go cry now, have a blessed day and know you ain't alone man, we all loved this movie rather it was for kids or not.

Same here. It’s one of my biggest sources of escapism, it just seems so… perfect and just the right balance of chaos and peace and adventure and, honestly, family. The first movie came out when I was 7 and the last when I was 16. I grew up with the series and I don’t know where I’d be without it, it was and still is such a special thing for me.

This remind me my flying friend, it was a long time ago, I was walking in a forest, thinking about nothing, when I looked at the sky I saw a silhouette, a dragon, I was very surprised to see him, I just couldn’t believed my eyes, a furry ! Night or light ? I didn’t knew at that moment, when he landed, I came closer to see him better, no one could expect to see what I saw, the dragon, the furry, was half night half light, and partly blue, I was asking to my self if that was possible, I sat down and watched him, but he saw me, I was scared but him too, we were both getting closer to each other, eyes in the eyes, I slowly rised my hand and then, he moved his head, my hand was touching is head, he closed his eyes… what a magical moment, then, we became friends, an unbreakable friendship, we were playing on the grass, laying next to a little firecamp, and flying together, exploring the world in the sky, I named him "star" because his eyes were as brilliant has stars, we saw so many things, ah… so many memories, 7 years as passed since we met, we realized that humanity don’t deserve dragons, hiccup said goodbye to toothless, Astrid said goodbye to stormfly, Valka said goodbye to cloudjumper, peoples said goodbye to their flying friend, that day, star joined the hidden world, the only place in which one he would be safe, but… are dragons gone ? They aren’t, they are still here, they live deep in the ocean waiting for us to accept them again, we are waiting too, waiting for humanity to deserve them, maybe if I go watch the sky, I’ll see him flying above us, who know ? Maybe if you go watch the sky, you’ll see your flying friend too

It hurts me so bad knowing that I won't ever expierence what Hiccup have. I know that this is only a film for children, nothing but idealized imagination of producers, pixels on the screen... But it still hurts me. My life will forever be incomplete knowing that I most likely won't ever meet my Toothless and my Astrid. Knowing that I won't ever expierence the ultimate freedom coming from riding a night fury. Knowing that I won't ever expierence truly loving family which Valka and Stoik provided for their kid. Knowing that I won't ever accomplish anything remarkable and do good things for people around like Hiccup did. I'm 20 years old and I'm painfully jealous and envious of the animated, imagined characters life. I'm probably at the lowest low of my life so far and it keeps going donwhill. If you read this, thanks. I had to vent it.

fun fac about the french version the moovie in english is called "how to train your dragon" but in french it only "dragon" if it would have been the same in french and english, it would have been "comment entrainer son dragon" the name of the night dragon is "thootless" in english, this literaly mean "dragon sans dent" in french, but, his name in french is actualy "krokmou" (croque mou), that mean "weak bite" 😂

It's because some of the music isn't listed as part of the official soundtrack. It's still from the movie though. For example 1:51 to 3:18 is from the part in HTTYD 2 when Valka and Hiccup talk about being a family again and making the world a safer place for dragons, but it isn't listed on the official soundtrack 😊

“There were dragons when I was a boy.” - Hiccup When I was a boy there were dragons. One time a dragon landed in front of me not realizing I was there. I couldn’t believe what species it was. It was a Fury! Which one? Night Fury? No. It was a Light Fury. The most beautiful dragon I have ever seen. A female no less. When she realized I was there she turned around and was on alert but then looked at me with… curiosity. I reached my hand out only for her to bolt on me. I found a fish. Salmon maybe. Or was it Cod? I gave it to the dragon and she began to trust me a little but it wasn’t enough. I began drawing her head on the ground hoping for a reaction and I got one. She tried to draw as well. But she was testing me. Once I navigated around and about the lines I ended up closer than ever to the dragon. I tried reaching my hand out again. She let out a growl then I pulled my hand away. I tried again but looking away putting trust in a dragon to not eat me. She trusted me too and I let her come to me. We became the best of friends right to the end. I named her Lightnight. Why I chose such a stupid name remains a mystery but if she liked it then I liked it too. We flew. We played. We relaxed. We studied. And did so much more. We had the best time as dragon and dragon rider. Adventure awaited us. However. As time went on it then was time for dragons to leave for the hidden world, I knew it was inevitable. It pained me to see her leave and pained her to leave. But at least I know she is safe. Perhaps there will be a time when dragons can return in peace. But until that happens, they remain safe in the hidden world. When I flew on her back, it felt like I had gotten something back that I never knew I lost. Oh my dearest dragon friend, I miss you. Not a day goes by when I don’t. For Lightnight. For the dragons we shall protect. Many believe dragons were just stories or that they never existed at all. They will remain that way for the time being. But we Berkians and fellow dragon riders know otherwise. The dragons may be gone but their spirits and souls live on. We have what no one could ever touch. We have. OUR DRAGONS! (This is a tribute to the HTTYD franchise and the School of Dragons game which was ended in 2023. I had only had my light fury for a short time due to that fact. Long live the dragons that we trained and had many adventures with along our dragon riding lives. But to me, it was a career. An actual life. How to Train your Dragon will live on and will always have a rent free spot in my life.)
