I remember when this movie came out, my brother and I got an old composition notebook and drew a dragon on it and started our own dragon log. We went around our neighborhood looking for cool rocks and prickly plants, we called those the eggs. We looked around everywhere trying to find some proof of dragons. I long for that feeling. I want to feel it again. I want to exist in that moment again. I still have that little bit of hope that dragons exist and we can coexist alongside them like they do in the movie.

A theory I have regarding these movies and the impact that they had, is that the reason they resounded so much with the children who watched it when it first came out, is that the protagonist, Hiccup, grew up with them. Each movie showed him struggling with things applicable to their age. First, finding your unique strengths and fitting in, second establishing your place in a world where you learn that the adults all around you are as flawed and helpless as you are (and of course loss of a parental figure). And finally, with the last one, at the age that sees many of those initial children as young adults (along with Hiccup), we explore themes of letting go and moving on. Be that moving out, moving away, losing childhood friends or just change in general. These movies are beautiful.

I think the reason this makes us cry is because it reminds us of when we were kids? The music is so powerful and the memories are so strong you can feel them. Every note carries the magic of your childhood - when rustles in the grass could’ve been scaly creatures, when clouds passing over bright stars could’ve been glossy wings. Every note takes you home. You’re reminded of simpler times, times when the world wasn’t so heavy on your shoulders. Times when the sky was big and people were kind, and you had the freedom to just imagine. Times when there were dragons.

This soundtrack is like travelling to a world that never existed, and yet, it does exist in our hearts. It makes us long for a time that never happened, for a freedom that only these movies could offer to us, the idea of letting go of all the real world struggles and settling into the life of vikings and dragons, the connection with the characters, the scenery, the music. The happiness, the sorrow, the terror and love was the same for each and every individual that stuck along side this franchise throughout the years. Goodbye, How to Train Your Dragon. 9 long years well spent. We will all miss this.

I remember when the first movie came out. In kindergarten, we would play this and "fly" around our classroom. When the second movie came out, my cousins and I would pick out a couple of dragons that we liked the most, or say that that dragon was one of the us or something, and I always get left with the dragons I never knew about. When the third movie came out, it was simply wonderful. I did not expect that to happen. My friends and I made a small movie theatre with cardboard and faced my dad's projector there so we could see it better, and it was a fun experience for us all. This movie gave me so much memories, I loved it soo much, and now to know that it is over is pretty sad. it was a movie that I shared a lot of interest with my family, and basically I grew up with this series. Yeah HTTYD is my all time favorite animated trilogy. It is what really inspired me to want to become an artist. I remember watching the first one in theaters with my mom and brother when I was about 13 and just fell in love with it. After it came out on dvd, I’d watch it almost every day and watch the how to draw Toothless video in the bonus features and would draw him constantly. I also remember getting super excited when the sequel got announced and going to see it in theaters with a friend of mine and my siblings. Then I got to see it a second time in theaters with my parents and brother. The second one is still my favorite 💖 I also really enjoyed the third installment. I remember I got to see it with my parents and brother a week or two early because one of the theaters in my area was doing an early screening. I just really love all the characters, stories, music, and art in these movies 😭💕 The HTTYD franchise will always be a big part of my life and I’ll always cherish the memories I have watching them.

I ride horses so I can feel almost as free as it must feel for Hiccup to ride a dragon like Toothless high above the clouds. A horse is a surprisingly quiet animal. When we humans walk in the woods, we make all sorts of noises that are incredibly distracting. I have to stop myself to hear the world around me even if I walk very quietly on my toes with carefully placed soft footfalls. Animals hear us and smell us coming long before we get where we're going. But a horse masks all of that. They walk silently. And it's so amazingly magical to take a horse who you have a great bond of trust with out on a freshly snowed and untouched field or a quiet beach with no one around and just the sound of the wind moving through the trees or the roll of the waves coming in. That to me is awesome and puts me as close as I'll ever be with the world. It's not riding a dragon like Toothless, but it's close.

"With love comes loss, son" Foreshadowing on so many levels. This franchise will forever be my favourite i grew up with it. I was 13 when it first came out and immediately fell in love, the musical score is magic. The characters oddly relatable (especially hiccup) i went through some of my toughest years with these and I'll forever be greatful for the escape they provided. Yes they're kids movies but that doesn't make them any less impactful. I'm 23 now and these movies hold such a dear part of my heart, i don't think I'll ever be able to let them go. This is a masterpiece in every way possible.

How to train your dragon is one of the best animated movie series ever. Period. Action, fantasy, love, heartbreak, friendship, adventure, tragedy, comedy, it's got everything one could ask for. It reminds me of those days, when you’d ride your bike or hike up these giant hills, and you’d stand there with the wind in your hair, and the sun at your back. Just taking it all in. Then you’d ride down or run down that hill at break neck pace yelling out at the shear thrill it gave you. Then at the end of the day, as the sun was setting and you’d be lying in your backyard, body tired, and weary and just letting the day fade away, until you go inside to be with your family once more

this has been the best 9 years of my life. but sadly all good thing must come to an end we will never forget the series and it will come through our life as the better times we will be lying on our death beds recalling the past and remember playing in the garden with loved ones pretending to be hiccup or toothless every day we will remember the second movies release and how happy we were that the trilogy would continue. and how sad were when stoic died and how we used to look up at the sky and imagining flying through the clouds with toothless by your side living the dream. an when the third came out how sad you were that it all just ended. to all my comrades who grew up with this gem I salute you 🙏 may we all live wonderful lives “You came early into this world... You were such a wee thing. You were so frail, Oh, so fragile... I feared you wouldn’t make it... But your father... He never doubted... He always knew you’d become the strongest of them all.... I remember the summer evenings of me and my friends staying at the park talking about which dragons we would have that would suit us. And I remember being 13 and seeing the 3rd installment and having a sense of sadness but relief for toothless having to leave hiccup, but that taught me that sometimes the right choices in life are the hardest ones to make. I'm now 16 and these movies will forever be a part of who I am.

I'm older than the lot of you; a 35 year-old who grew up loving dragons. Back in the early nineties, I had Ninja Turtles, but I didn't have dragons. But oh, did I want them. I grew up in a very tough life, filled with abuse, fear and anger, but dreaming of adventuring with mythical creatures got me through it all. They then became more than just imagination to me. They carried my mind away from turmoil. I had enshrined them for all of the agony they got me through. They were my emotional "protectors." Dragonheart was all I got as far as movies went, for a long, long time. I had amassed my collection of dragon statues and resin figures, had drawn and sculpted dragons, had worn clothing with dragons emblazoned on it, and hung posters of my favorite fire-breathing beasts high on the wall... and by the time How to Train Your Dragon released, I had grown up. I was "too old" for it. I heard my fantasy-loving brethren discuss it, and both of my most closest companions begged me to watch it, told me that I'd love it with all my heart... but I resisted, thinking it wouldn't satisfy me-- or perhaps, I knew it would, and that terrified me. A year later, that friend disappeared from my life, never to be heard from again. Four days ago, I finally watched How to Train Your Dragon. Even during its happiest moments, I couldn't help but shed tears thinking of other kids who were in situations like me, escaping the hell of their lives on the backs of dragons. That wounded child in me still dreams of adventure, and it was fulfilled with these movies. It was a feeling unlike any other-- one of resolution, of coming home. Now there will always be dragons for kids like the boy I was. There will always be a Toothless protector for the damaged and abandoned. And I couldn't be more grateful.

For a long while, I've noticed that people tend to dismiss stories as they grow older. I'm still young, only barely an adult, but I never want to let go of my inner child. It's amazing that a 'silly' kids' story, a movie about animated dragons, was able to provide you with closure, and help people all around the world ride dragons when that should be impossible. Stories may be childish, but they aren't just for children. They are able to become a haven, an adventure, and literally anything you can imagine: which is a powerful thing to be underestimated.

And I'm so much grateful for Your comment, as a child raised in a good family, not knowing about a fear or damage dragons could make me only greater, but I didn't suspected that they could sow an only seed of goodness in someone's heart. I wish to all those people strengh, to carry about this seed and courage, so it can bring a magnificent fruits in a world, which just doesn't care. May they be with you always.

Please don't take this the wrong way... for me how to train your dragon reminds me of what I feel when I believe in God and what I believe fully surrendering and becoming a martyr for your beliefs would feel like. I think that it would be less sad but would hold the power that comes from living with your heart out in the world fully ready to make a difference and believe like never before. I hope that your friend is in heaven and that one day you will be there too. I personally believe that Jesus died for my sins and that if I believe in him and repent that God will be just and forgive making me an adopted child of his thanks to his grace and Jesus, his son's, sacrifice. I hope that you have a blessed day and that this comment doesn't offend you. I will pray for you.
