Afternoon Freight and Passenger action at Broadford & Tallarook- 23/12/19

Video from a visit to Broadford and Tallarook on the 23rd of December 2019, a trip made with the intention of getting Pacific National's 1WM4 and 2MC2 as well as SSR's 1NK3 empty grain from Broadmeadow Yard to Dimboola. Several V/Line passes also feature.
Trains seen in order are:
1WM4- NR29, NR68, TT115 and LDP002
1NK3- RL305, GM27, 602 and BRM002
2MC2- NR63 and NR72

at 2.10 thats a load of hot rolled steel coil from the Port Kembla BlueScope Steel Hot Strip Mill on the way to the Hastings works where it will get pickled, cold rolled, some will then be galvanised or coated in zincalume then some will become colorbond. looks like about 110 coils on that train, each have an average weight of 25 tonne = 2750 tonnes of steel. about 12 hours production on the HSM and will take about 18 hours for the cold mill to roll

That’s one long steel train with 4 locos! Also Love NR29s simplistic Indian Pacific livery

The WM/MW steel trains usually get up around 50-60 wagons, though I have seen them up to 90 before as well on the empty 1MW2 runs as well. This version of the Indian Pacific livery is my least favourite because of its simple design. I much preferred the first version, though the second when new was good as well.

Greensleeves94 yeah I guess it would be cheap to put on. I never liked the dark blue Indian pacific livery but the yellow one in NR18 was nice however it is in the Ghan livery now 😒
