The juxtaposition of you saying, "I thought _Angel_ was a game changer" at the beginning of this episode - whew, prescient. And so sad that Angel was going away for a while - yeah, this show rips your heart out. Again and again. Hope you're enjoying it as much as we enjoy watching you react!

Watching that scene in the end where Angel cries "Buffy!!!", it's kind of like him 'dying' AS 'Angel' but then he just disappears for awhile, becomes only a passenger in a vehicle that can't get out. Like the human trapped inside the demon that took over him.

The Judge was played by perennial villain Brian Thompson, who also played Luke in "Welcome to the Hellmouth." (Luke was "the Vessel".) Thompson's one of those really nice, kind guys whose 6'6 and built like a brick wall and has a face made for scaring people, so mostly he gets to play villains. The one time I remember him playing a hero, he was amazing at it.

The gane changer is less this episode, but how it plays out in the second part, Innocence. Fun fact, this episode aired on a Monday night, whixh was their regular slot, then Innocence aired on the following night - Buffy aired on tuesdays from then on. It was brilliant marketing, because every single fan was losing it!

I remember when this cliffhanger happened. The show was going from monday night to tuesday night and they wanted to make sure people tuned in the next tuesday. This and the next few episodes are so nerve wracking! I cant wait to see your reaction!

I disagree. Surprise works better because people assume its a reference to the type of party, so they end up blindsided. Your proposed change would tip people off.
