i loved Ruby 1.0 too, and i got so happy when Dean killed this one, i got sad, cause Ruby was my fave. But then rewatching season 3, when blonde Ruby told Sam in epi..3? "i'll be that fallen angel on your shoulder" first she smiles and then she looks at him with an evil face, although it is blurred you can see it. I was like "oh my god...it was there, it was right there, i should have never trusted her, katie just was that good i bought it!!!!"

By the way, the series creator Eric Kripke, did confirm he had always intended from the beginning that Ruby would be evil.

great reaction to a great season finale from the awesome kripke era of the show... I love your head canon, but there's something really creative and satisfying realizing that everything to this point: Yellow Eyes creating the special children, to the devil's gate opening to free Lilith, to Ruby manipulating/grooming Sam under the guise of "doing the right thing" was all an elaborate long con game that would come to a head and setting Lucifer free, setting up next season..... just great writing and execution... and anything that gets more "What??!!" out of you is a good thing, lol

Sorry, Shan, but Ruby's been manipulating Sam since day 1. Everything she's done since she showed up at the beginning of S3 has been to get Sam to this point. I never trusted her, either version, and if you rewatch, you can see all the points in both seasons where she's jerking Sam's chain. Dean even calls her on it several times in both seasons. I want to punch Bobby every time for that "boohoo princess" speech.

lop90ful1 Indeed it was. Bobby just invalidated Dean's legitimate hurt and anger that Sam tried to murder him, over a demon, like Dean was being irrational somehow for feeling that way. Then he compares him to John, as if Sam wanting to take off for college and trying to kill his brother are comparable offenses. Dean did need to get his head back in the game, but he didn't need that particular version of that speech to motivate him.

@Spangelicious - Sam didn't try to murder Dean, he just defended himself against Dean. Bobby did not invalidate Dean's hurt, he invalidated Dean's stupid choices. Comparing Dean to John was not great, but that was effective. John was bad dad and a coward in a sense for not opening his heart and reaching out. The speech was effective and Dean got back in the game. I understand your complaints from the standpoint that you think Sam tried to murder Dean. If that were the case, then Bobby's speech would be crappy.

Sam tried to hang Dean when Dean was on the floor. If that's not trying to kill Dean then I do not know what it is, and it was not the first time because in the Asylum episode Sam also tried to kill Dean when he was already on the ground shooting him but Dean had picked up the bullets. I just think they make excuses for Sam. And Bob puts a hand on Sam's head, but when Sam does something with him in Season 6 he resents and when he's with Dean he has to get over it is not fair and it's not right.

Katie Cassidy is always my Ruby too. Don't get me wrong Genevieve is a doll but you could tell from the get go she was bad. Katie's Ruby was more like Catwoman where she seemed to flip flop and we didn't really know her true intentions.

When I was watching this when it aired I was getting that feeling episodes ago since introducing Chuck that the Angels were standing down or not trying to save the seals because in that castiel said they can't interfere with what a prophet writes well a prophet had written revelation didn't they so they can't stop it its what god wants to happen its what's written in the Bible they can't prevent that or at least the angels can't lol so I wasn't surprised when zac said that lol cool shot with the mirror lol

I know I'm leaving comments on an 'old' video, and lots of people already said it but... Though I also prefer the first Ruby (actress), this Ruby is the exact same character. She's just been playing the perfect long con. Her motivations have been the same since the beginning. Like she said, she's just awesome at her job, able to make Sam swallow it all, hook, line, and sinker. She even made Dean think a few times... though he never really bought it, and trusted his gut feeling more.

The changed phone message was what Zachariah called 'giving Sam a small push'; he altered it to ensure Sam would go through with killing Lilith. Also, your theory about never trusting Ruby doesn't actually fit canon, lol, since this season finale was supposed to be Sam and Ruby getting married. She was literally supposed to be good, but when the actors got together irl the writers decided to change the ending. That being said, we share the exact same theory about Ruby, but don't blame the actress who plays Ruby 2, she was given instructions to play Ruby different and as a guest star you pretty much do as you're told. Puppet James absolutely wrong. in an interview after the end of season 4 they said that from the very beginning they wanted to have Ruby as a backstabbing bitch that would have tricked them until the end. And this season Ruby wasn’t even supposed to be portrayed by the same actress, there had to be different women to play that role, they chose to keep her as the only one because Kripke liked how she was working. This season was always conceived to end like this.

Well I watched a different interview and apparently they like to change their answers. Also, I heard it from Jared and Kripke, at different times, more than once. So, I don't know, maybe they like to keep us guessing? And thanks to the backlash Gen received after playing Ruby, other cast members showed her support by admitting that she had been given bad stage direction in the earlier episodes and ended up playing Ruby way different from how Cassidy had. Btw, next time I would appreciate you not assuming I'm wrong and you're right until you've heard my side. Whichever story is true, idk, but I know what I heard in actual interviews with both the creator of the show and several of its talent.

"Two Rubys" takes a lot of gravity out of how bad Sam screwed up. If dean isn't proven absolutely right, then Sam will have a harder time redeeming himself. Ruby's betrayal makes Sam see how bad the thing he thought was right actually is, you can see it on his face. It's also sort of insulting to the new actor, like the first ruby was someone worth more, even though her suspiciousness could have well just been good writing. Just my take on it. No offence though, I still love these vids. I look forward to them every week!
