Thanks for making this podcast Robbie and Cecil. So glad Martin came back to us from Everton. He’s probably the best man to man marker I’ve ever seen, a beast of a defender and hard as nails ! The greatest thing though is is he’s Arsenal through and through and as measured in his speech as he was on the pitch. A intelligent, decent man and a legend of a footballer ! Love the guy.

Never knew Keown worked with the back four in 2005/06 but it makes sense because that was a very average unit (Flamini, Senderos, Toure, Eboue) that somehow kept clean sheets vs Real Madrid, Juventus, Villarreal, for 75 mins vs Barcelona etc.

There is a reason why Tony Adams is called Mr Arsenal and has a statue outside the Emirates. He stayed 19 years at Arsenal and didnt bugger off to another club for more money. Everytime i hear Keown talk its all about him. Us the fans known he was a back up player he was back up to Adams and Bould and back up to Adams and Campbell. Strange he never mentioned Campbell in the interview. And when fans talk about the Invincibles it was Campbell and Toure.Keown could do with a dose of humility

Keown was a greedy. He left Arsenal for more money and put money before trophies .The real Arsenal back 4 is Dixon Adams Bould and Winterburn. Keown thinks he was better than those 4 he wasn't

An ok squad rotation defender with a bigger reputation for his aggression. Steve Bould was a better defender. Kolo Toure was actually played in midfield at times when he first arrived. However he established himself a better defender than Keown. That says a lot. Keown himself thinks hes better than Tony Adams though.

Not sure how much you know. Keown established himself fully before Adams playing majority of 85/86 alongside O'Leary. Keown acknowledged he made a mistake of going for more money. Had Keown stayed who knows how Adams would have progressed. After 88 league final GG signed lots of centre backs never to be short again. At one time Arsenal had Adams Bould O'Leary Keown Linighan and Pates. GG bought Keown back after having all of the aforementioned. This was in 1992/93 10 years before Toure. Keown was nearly 35 in 03/04. Toure wasnt as good as a peak Keown.
