Hi Jan, there's a Claas Xerion 5000 Trac TS version for years with tracks, it's not articulated but 4 wheel steering, just like the new Xerion 12.590 / 12.650. Hey, nice to see Austin ( 4:40 Full Line Austin ).

One of the problems with modern farming is that the capital expenditure for equipment per acre farmed is astronomical. According to Sask Ag, farmers have $800 per acre invested in equipment and it is costing them ~$20/acre in interest and ~$50/acre in depreciation. As well as $13/acre for repairs. For a 2000 acre farm that is $1.6M for equipment and $168,000 for interest, depreciation and repairs. I grew up on a 3000 acre farm. We didn't have anywhere near that investment in equipment and managed to get everything seeded and harvested without any issues.

I have been a sub of this channel for like 6 months. I learned a lot. I have been a sub of Mike Mitchell of Faith Hope Farms for several years now. I would not be surprised to see him make vids of this too. I like vids like this. I am a Canadian, but I live in North Eastern Ontario. You will never see ag shows around here. I would really like to see the price tags on that stuff. It would shed some light on the never ending cost farmers are forced to bare in order to provide us all with food. Again, thanks for the vid. Much respect for Ontario.

Hi! Been following U closely for 2-3 yrs. I grew up just outside Langham! In fact was born on the 1/4 section just across the road from “Ag-In-Motion”, (83 yrs ago) just across to the west (south quarter!) In fact we owned the 1/2 section Ag-In-Motion is on today! I really appreciate the work U display on Ur Channel! GREAT JOB! I’ll be tempted to “drop in”, with request & warning of course, should I come up Ur way. Been in Regina since ‘76! Gerry Epp

Nice to see you and your dad get away for an afternoon. I am guessing those test plots most likely got some irrigation throughout the summer. They all looked very good. It would be interesting to see how triticale would perform around here. I had to google it, it is a cross between wheat and rye first bred in Scotland and Germany. It was introduced to Canada in 1954 by the University of Manitoba.

I am amazed that Weidemann is represented at a canadian farm show. They are the market leader for farm wheel loaders in Germany. Tritcale is important in Germany, around 330,000 hectares are cultivated, primarily as feed, but also as silage for biogas plants. In terms of location, it lies somewhere between wheat and rye.

triticale is cultivated the most in the world in Poland (Europe). the average grain yield is about 5-8 tons of grain, in favorable years the yield is even 10 tons per hectare of grain, in unfavorable years the yield per hectare is 4-6 tons. it is cultivated on the poorest quality farmland. on even poorer soils, we grow rye, which yields quite similarly, but has much less protein, triticale has more protein than wheat, 12-14% grain. Silage from rye and barley (GPS) yields 20-25 t per hectare with a protein content of about 10-12%. silage triticale reaches even 12-14% protein with a comparable mass yield. we currently use grain alkalization or grain aliplusing which increases the protein content in it. I recommend rye and triticale for silage. unfortunately rye at a later stage of development is quite difficult to pick up due to its flexible and difficult to break stems, we use headers like a forage harvester for it.

Tritical is a very good crop, we seed about 300 acres of it, and feed it to our beef cattle, and mix it and alfalfa and our cows do very well. If you plant it where there's water, or the soil is wet, it will get 7 ft plus tall, we usually have 3 ft tall windrows when we cut it, but it's pretty much like oat hay, you have to cut it at the right time, or you have the risk of poisoning your animals, but yeah I would recommend Tritical if you're interested in trying it
@Officialfulloffaithranch Жыл бұрын
Triticale inter-seeded with Austrian winter peas makes some incredible forage. The tonnage is high and the peas add a ton of protein to the mix.
