In the context of different formats and importantly during those events the term "world champion" should still be reserved only for Gukesh and classical. The current champion of the format should always need a prefix to the term world champion for example "Rapid World Champion" never should be said without the "Rapid" part, then it is correct. Only the classical format does not require the prefix classical in context to a world champion.

Magnus is a monster in all formats, no one even come close. When he have a bad start in a tournament he usually come back and fight in the top anyway. No one have such a high lowest level as Magnus. It's a huge difference of having this stability and just have one great tournament.

Freestyle if anything it's harder. Classical has same opening and it's around memorising the same theory for the first 20-25 moves. Freestyle is more like solving puzzles. So it's way harder and players have just their ability to rely on

I'm Indian, a big fan of Gukesh and his style, and I think it's unfair to call him the "World Champion" in a Fischer Random tournament when there already is a Fischer Random Champion who is NOT the classical world champion. In any other context (Blitz, Rapid, Classical) it would make sense to refer to the Classical champion as THE champion. But Fischer Random is objectively a different beast and I think the Fischer random champion should get their due. Just my 2 cents.

World champian always refers to the Classical time format if you want to refer to other champion you should mention the name for example Blitz world champion or Rapid ... and in classical time format you actually have to play chess the other in my idea are more about knowing theory and finding patterns either today with the help of engine and in the past by the theory books
