Whether or not to capture on c4/c5 is a big decision with far-reaching consequences. I've been trying to unravel this for over fifty years.

The way you saw how that rook lift equated to checkmate was very impressive. Us 1000'ers don't catch stuff like that yet and you saw it right away. I really enjoyed how easy you made this look!

6:05 He moved the king because you had "bishop to H3 move" and he cannot take it with his g2 pawn because it is pinned by your queen. Yes the correct move would have been the f2 pawn to f3 because of his queen at C2 which he can then defend with. But I didn't see it either in the game, I would have moved the kind like he did. Amazing played Agad!! Man you are so good!

That was fun! It absolutely is enjoyable that you play these games. It also helps me look for combinations I would have never looked for without seeing you do it as I try to analyze the positions along with you. That match was a good example of why a person should not memorize openings before training in tactics and mating puzzles. Somebody will misplay and then destroy you with the messy position that results.

I think the mysterrious king move at 6:03 was clearly to break the pin on the g-pawn in anticipation of bishop to h3.
@jerlmarytarchive11 ай бұрын
Honestly baffling that a 2400 cant see that f3 or f4 also defends the pinned pawn while attacking
@willesnille11 ай бұрын
@@jerlmarytarchive Its not necessarily that he didnt see it. Maybe he just didnt want to calculate what happens if pawn captures pawn. Now the bishop is eyeing the white queen and its a tactical minefield. Either way, I think that was clearly the point of the king move whether it was good or bad.
@slidenaway11 ай бұрын
@@willesnille yeah the pin meant the bishop could infiltrate and sort of threaten checkmate, seemed obvious to me anyway (as a very low level player lol) that moving the king was just a simple way avoid all potential complications there

Lovely game and I love this wonderful series. Keep going. Sure you were down a pawn and even if the engine says it was winning for White, practically speaking I wouldn't mind playing with Black here. The pawn at e4 acted as a nice thorn in White's camp. Also, surprised no one pointed it out before. The "Search all my videos easy" section is not correctly updated for the last few videos. It's pointing to an old game actually.

Its not blundering a pawn if you are continuing with your development and the opponent is focusing on hanging on to his extra pawn simply for the sake of being up slightly in material. Especially when you're sacking rooks and destroying his kingside. What good is that little pawn now?
@onenewworldmonkey11 ай бұрын
I don't understand why the engine and you didn't like the white king going into the corner H1? I thought the pawn in front of the king at G2 would be pinned when you put the bishop on H3. Am I wrong?
