Nice shots on the action camera. Question how is the linkage holding up? I've heard reviews saying it's a bit weak

all Decathlon bikes have no brand parts that will turn into shit, replace that and you will be ok
@ninjaride13122 жыл бұрын
What on this bike the "no brand part" that I have seen is the back shock the rest of the parts are really good for its price
@antitainer37612 жыл бұрын
Even the shock in the back is a branded one - It's a Manitou McLeod. Sram NX Drivetrain, RockShox Gold 35 Fork, Sun Ringle Wheelset and Hutchinson Tires. Finishing kit are generic Decathlon Parts, just like with every other manufacturer in this price bracket. Lifetime warranty on the frame btw; that's rather rare. Assembly quality can be hit or miss with Decathlon, but truth to be told, I've had some very expensive bikes, that I had to take care of, from big brands that have obviously been carelessly assembled - That's just something you have to deal with in bicycle land. Overall a very well specced bike for a price that to my knowledge no other brand is able to provide. Next up would be Vitus and next Radon/Canyon but there we are already at 2000 Euro and more. Maybe for the progressive geo-nerd it's a bit on the old school side but even in terms of weight this bike is on the same level as the rest of the trail bike market. If you have money left, get a set of lighter wheels, better tires and upgrade the brakes to 200 front and 180 in the back. (I don't really like Sram Brakes, never did, so I would consider slapping on Magura MT5s or Shimano Slx, but that's purely subjective) Nothing wrong with the bike and the only thing it really lacks is all the marketing shenanigans and hip manufacturer stickers. If you just wanna ride and don't care about adherence to a certain part of a certain scene, than go for it.

I have bought new several decathlon bikes and when I say "no brand" parts is the things that have rockrider name on them or bolts, wheel set, the generic bearings, basically the hardware, but is true if you only care about price to performance there is nothing atm on the market that can beat it. Just get the bike and do a total reassemble. Some of them just come bone dry. After some time is cheaper to sell the bike and buy the next year model. Let me give you this example, the st 560s costs like 600 euros, you can ride that bike in most cases up to 3500 km with no stress. At that point you will need to replace wheel bearings, probably a broken spoke or two(being generous here), fork seals, drivetrain, etc. It's cheaper to sell it on the used market and get a new one, it will be cheaper than for example buying a new transmission
@antitainer37612 жыл бұрын
@@Sustrii I don't doubt your experience with the ST560. If it's the full-suspension for 600 bucks, than what did you expect?! It's really hard to find a somewhat decent Hardtail for that price. This will obviously be a pretty basic bike, to say the least, because even a big company like Decathlon can't sell you a half decent full-suspension bike for this price. Noone can actually, at least not new. (It still should be well assembled, but this is sadly kind of a fact with Decathlon. At least they have a good after-sales service. Treat 'em like a direct sale bike vendor, like Canyon, YT, Radon, Ribble etc., i.e. have the tools and the knowledge to maintain and fix the bike on your own) The Am100s on the other hand is 1700 Euro and is as good as any other entry level aluminium full-suspension trail bike and I can't see anything wrong with the frame or hardware (except for the brakes/rotor size imho) on it and I've build and repaired a lot of bikes from cheap used stuff up to carbon roadbikes for dentist salaries. Look, I don't own any decathlon bike, I don't work for them and for the most part, if asked for advice, I tell people to stay away from their bikes, but from time to time they are able to put out a pretty good bike, usually in the upper price region from within their own range. The Rockrider XC x00S Series from them is also pretty neat and they had some very good carbon road bikes in the past at a very competitive price. I mean, they have race teams and professional riders that actual race on those bikes. Just don't buy the entry level cheap stuff from them if you intend on really using it.

@@antitainer3761 Push bikes for me are a way to build resistance and some times go check the trail because I race in hard enduro. In My garage there is a couple of st 560s and one am 100s that I will replace w the am 100 hard tail really soon™. In our group there is a swarm of am's 100 and 50 because to us makes no sense the price of main stream bicycle brands Off course pll will come out and defend their favorite color but from my point of view a guy that races and works on RnD, there's no justification for the prices being practice by this companies. My only beef w decathlon is their bearings, to put it plainly, in My opinion they are shit. Again my personal opinion but I haven't seen such shitty bearings since the case of exploding main bearings on betas motorcycles. I really appreciate that decathlon is exploring this share of the market, if anything else they will introduce people to the sport
