Why skates are most often solt with 4x80 frames? If I switch to 4x90, I guess I gain in the ability to skate rough surfaces. But, what do I loose? What is the tradeoff?

usually a long frame will offer you more stability... easier to roll rougher surfaces and a bit of a longer wheel base which will be ok for balance..but its not better or worst..its a question of taste... for me this is the sweet spot.. most people haven't found theirs or don't see a need to find it and its all good :).

​​@@RicardoLino thanks Ricardo. The point is I recently bought a new pair of skates (RB Twister XT) and they come with 4x80. To switch to 4x90 I need to spend another 300€, which is a lot of money.

The wheel size depends primarily on how you want to use your skates. Smaller wheels keep you closer to the ground, which puts less stress on your ankles and gives you more control. Shorter (front to back) frames make the skates more maneuverable. 4x80mm flat frames has become "Industry Standard" because it is a sweet spot between going fast, having good maneuverability, and not exerting too much force on your ankles. Get good on the skates you have! Find out what style of skating you enjoy most, and then decide if something about your skates is stopping you from enjoying skating more. Your new Rollerblade Twisters are far more capable than my 1997 Rossignol Traffic 66s, so I expect to see you skating in them with an even bigger smile 😁

Yo! Rookie rollerblader here, do the type of wheels matter a lot? Like, I'm pretty sure mine are for indoors or hybrid and I'm thinking of buying some outdoor ones if necessary

most inline skates wheels are for outdoor...unless you have a specific hockey or speed skating wheel which is very very soft for extra grip on indoor rinks or tracks..but even those will roll fine outdoors... there are a lot of different wheel diameters...durometers...profiles...different types of urethane....and hub size..... but for a beginner, the easiest way to understand is the more rebound the wheel has, the better it is...you want a wheel when you throw to the floor that bounces back high :) hope this was helpful. regards Lino

what is the durometer (hardness) of the wheel. It all depends on what you like to skate. Personal opinion, anything 88a to 90a is good. Also, again, depending on what you skate, the size might play an important role, in making a decision.

that you.! its a flat frame which allow you to adjust front a back due to the sliding slot and also have a little bit of a forward lean to make edging easier :) im happy with the result
