why are you hating on risk factor?
@WhiteyMcFly16 жыл бұрын
The way I see it, it's because it's one of those weird cases where you can only play it as one of the first few spells you play in a turn; most reasonably, storm count 2-3. That's because this card draws you 3 cards if your opponent opts to not take the damage, which means that once your storm count is too high, casting this just mills you instantly... which also means that, while it's a good card to already have in your hand when you combo off, it's also potentially dead if you draw it mid-combo.
@renanceleste22536 жыл бұрын

Risk Factor is insanely good with goblin electromancer. Cast it for 2 mana, so a 2 mana 4 dmg spell or draw 3, then jump start it to do 40% of their life total in 4 mana or draw a bunch. It works wonderfully in burn wizards to the point where I’d put it at tier 2 at least in Standard.

Yes
@DarkneszFalls6 жыл бұрын
@@TheSLATEcleaner Thanks, I thought so, but I just wanted to make sure. I haven't read the text of TYS since it was spoiled so wasn't too familiar with the wording on it. It would be busted if it copied for every storm trigger.
@iwakuralain30646 жыл бұрын
Sadly, I don't think that the cast trigger on grapeshot is copied by thousand year storm.
@TheSLATEcleaner6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, if you cast it with 5 other spells cast you would have grapeshot, a storm triggered ability copying grapeshot 5 times, and a thousand-year storm trigger making X copies of grapeshot, where X is the number of instants and sorceries cast that turn by you. So, importantly, you could have storm of 5 but one of the spells cast was your opponent's (or a non-sorcery, non-instant spell by you). A great example would be if you have Thousand-Year Storm in play and your opponent casts Opt in response to you leading on Desperate Ritual. If they didn't find anything and you continued by casting a second desperate ritual, then a manamorphose, then a serum visions, then a grapeshot (which would likely be incorrect, but this is simply for example), you would end up with only 10 grapeshots on the stack.

This deck is awesome, but i have been playing exclusively on Arena, and this deck is unfortunately unplayable there :( The timer system means that you just cannot storm off consistantly, sometimes you just time out and pass through your turn

Take this to modern with manamorphose and ghirapur orrey for the ramp and card draw. You will never run out of gas for jump start. Also play RISK FACTOR!!!

I'm not sure about Risk Factor in this deck, but I'm coming around to it in general.

Risk Factor in this deck can easily turn into "opponent makes me mill out". But yeah, very playable in aggro/burn decks.

Personally, I've been brewing a more jank version of this in jeskai with Jodah and omniscience. Still glad to see it get played.

I think that the reverse yawgmoth's will could be a very good option, in the sideboard.

It's a really fun card, it's just so matchup dependent. Seems strong against Golgari though, since they tend to mill themselves a ton.

I know you won't see this, but what about a divine visitation and Secure the wastes deck?

Hey Seth I've been a watcher for a few years now, I love your content for sure! I was hoping you would make a deck based off of this since it's my favorite card in GoR :)

It's a fun one!

risk factor is a stricly better draw spell then divination... with instant / jump start and don't forget the cost reduction cards .... goblin elecctromancer and primal AMulet
@matterhorn7316 жыл бұрын
Eh, it's not strictly better. If you're behind on board and the opponent is at high life, Divination might actually draw you answers where Risk Factor won't. Still very good in aggressive decks.
