The gnomes putting the coal in the furnace reminds me of the scene in Spirited Away when the dust balls were putting coal into the furnace. I bet the creators got the inspiration for the game off of Spirited Away.

If it's anything along the lines of spirited away, the nomes will be revealed as little workers being forced to serve the lady or be killed otherwise. They're even shown carrying what I'm going to assume is coal to some furnace just like the little spider thingies from the film do.

On the website where it talks about the lady it says HYPNOTIC spell so what if the lady has the nomes hypnotized and they are basically slaves and the ones we find as six are nomes that escaped from the engine room and the spell well it just a thought have a great day.👍😄

Nah man, cant wait for the update now, it will be so sick, hopefully. The name Hideaway is a good name for the new dlc, because it is in a dark place. The engine could be used mostly by gnomes but maybe, just maybe they are only there in case the Lady is gone and or dead.

Ok so here’s a little thing I thought of. On the Lady’s description, as you went over, says she is the one who casts the HYPNOTIC spell. So what if that spell mind controls the nomes to keep the maw running but the nomes that you find throughout the game and hug or save or whatever are ones that managed to escape the spell and are trying to escape the maw and they are helping you do the same. Just a idea.

About the nomes and the engine- it says the lady casts a hypnotic spell suggesting that she may be hypnotising the nomes in some way - that could also be why they appear to be throwing themselves into the furnace Just a theory
